Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experienceDue to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.Responsibilities for this PositionThe General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Information Technology (IT) Organization staffs a full time Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud team that develops and operates a suite of automation for GDMS engineers to rapidly adopt and stay secure in AWS. The IT AWS Team also provides solution architecture support to engineers after they’ve been onboarded into the AWS environment. The GDMS Engineering Organization sees AWS as their development environment of the future, and as such the GDMS IT AWS Team finds itself with a unique opportunity to invent and evolve the business’ most relevant computing environment. The position requires substantial AWS experience, preferably in the areas of security, automation, and solutions architecture. The position also requires substantial experience supporting tech savvy end users of a computing environment. This work can be done remotely, so a work-from-home arrangement is acceptable for this position even post-pandemic.Duties and Tasks :Configures, and administers AWS technologies, infrastructure, and applications to meet the organizations requirementsPartners with IT architecture and other IT teams to design, deploy, manage, and operate of scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems in AWS by working directly with the stakeholdersLead and perform the installation and configuration of AWS management applications by leading to large sized effortsDevelops, and designs software automation and scripts to orchestrate AWS and virtualization technologies with defined scope, schedule and expectationsMentors team members on analysis of summary data on AWS resource deployment and participates in taking corrective actionsMonitors requests and key metrics for AWS resources, as well as the performance of systems in the cloud and directs remediationTroubleshoots issues and plans for future AWS capacity requirements. Develops roadmap and business case for capacity growthIdentifies, manages and resolves AWS security risks and implements best practices as applied within a cloud environmentProvides subject matter expert technical support to customers using AWS products, solutions and APIsLead the Identification and documentation of product bugs and feature requests and works with internal support teams, external providers, as well as customers to implement effective solutionsSupports and leads the evaluation of new service offerings from AWS to determine potential usage by GDMSProvides technical leadership and work direction to other employeesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities :Expert in designing and implementing enterprise services in AWSExpert in Infrastructure automation through scriptingExpert in Configuration management using CloudFormation, and similar technologiesExpert with security, risk and compliance frameworks, disaster recovery, high availability architectures, hardware, operating systems and networking connectivityExpert with virtualization technologies: Server, Storage, NetworkingExpert in computer programming languages: C, C Sharp, C++, Perl, PHP, or Python.Expert in scripting languages, and software automation skillsDetailed and fully proficient knowledge of technology trends and champions new ideas and product and process improvementsShows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with very little direction, or can provide direction and leadership to technical teamsFully proficient ability to handle significant responsibility, leadership and accountability while executing complex assignmentsEffective communication skills (written and verbal)Knowledge of systems architectureAble to accept & integrate constructive feedbackDemonstrates ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individualsDemonstrates ability to learn and apply GDMS culture, policies and processesLean-Agile mindset Demonstrates the understanding and familiarity with the Lean-Agile mindsetLean-Agile principles and practices (includes DevSecOps, Scurm, SAFe, and Kanban)Lean-Agile principles and practices (includes DevSecOps, Scurm, SAFe, and KanbanNote: The compensation information listed is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules.
