Description

BASIC FUNCTION

: Assists staff and consumers in developing and implementing a comprehensive program of vocational rehabilitation services that will result in consumer's involvement in employment, skills training or educational activities. Coordinates pre-vocational and vocational activities that will assist consumers to develop and achieve vocational rehabilitation goals and functions successfully in competitive employment. Facilitates access to needed community vocational, via established linkages with vocational/educational service providers in the local community and refers consumers for services.

MAJOR DUTIES

:

Performs initial intake of all clients to obtain vocational/educational background information and identifies preliminary vocational educational needs and develops a preliminary plan of services to meet these needs.Conducts a comprehensive educational vocational assessment, which includes a complete history of employment, training and education activities, the administration of educational/vocational tests, and the evaluation of the client's capacity to function.Utilizes the results of the comprehensive educational/vocational assessment to develop, with client a vocational rehabilitation plan with short and long range goals and provides and coordinates those activities to help the clients achieve these goals.Provides on-going individual and group counseling to help clients make appropriate vocational decisions and assists them toward their established goals.Functions as an integral member of the inter-disciplinary treatment team and participates in case conferences, team meetings and in-service workshops.Develops and implements a formalized curriculum to train clients in employability, personal development and life skills.Develops and maintains linkages with community based educational, vocational employment and support service resources.Refers clients to appropriate vocational/educational service providers in the community.Provides follow-up and post-placement support services to clients who are competitively employed or attending educational and/or skills training activities.Provides training and consultation to treatment program staff in vocational rehabilitation principles and practices and helps to insure coordination and integration of vocational services within the overall treatment process.Maintains concise and accurate case records of client's status and progress. Prepares required report forms and keeps statistics on client contacts, referral and employment.SCHEDULE:

Full-Time, Monday-Friday

RATE

: $51,000 - $51,000 / year

Requirements

QUALIFICATION - EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

:

• MA in Vocational Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Counseling or Rehabilitation Psychology or Certification (CRCC) or MA degree in Counseling or Psychology specialization, with one year of experience in career counseling of clients with alcohol/substance abuse problems and/or clients from other disadvantaged populations or Bachelor's degree in either Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or otherwise related field with a minimum of two years of experience in the career counseling of clients with alcohol/substance abuse problem and/or clients from other disadvantaged population or Rehabilitation Counseling Masters Degree student participating in one of the three OASAS-sponsored work-study projects (NYU, Hunter College-CUNY).

Salary Description

$51,000/year
