Assistant Director for Multicultural Admission
This position is accountable for the effective and efficient recruitment of multicultural students in accordance with established goals and in compliance with federal, state and institutional guidelines and/or regulations. This position requires a collaborative style that combines specific individual territory goals with assisting in the planning of all territories to increase multicultural enrollment.
Essential Functions: Effectively support the recruitment of multicultural first year students from assigned recruitment territories within annually established College goals and identified characteristics Manage assigned territory through all aspects of recruiting. This includes travel, analysis and cultivating new and strengthening existing relationships Interview prospective students and effectively conduct pre-admission counseling to ensure a thorough understanding and acceptance of Washington College and its programs Represent Washington College at high schools, college fairs, college nights and on- and off-campus events as needed, and participate in the planning of events when appropriate Review and evaluate application materials in a thorough and timely manner, recommend admission and eligibility for academic scholarship in keeping with established guidelines Develop relationships with prospective students and families by guiding them through the Washington College admission process Research, develop and implement office-wide strategic multicultural recruitment initiatives Develop on-campus programs for prospective multicultural students in conjunction with current students and Student Affairs staff Support the implementation of the College's overall recruitment / marketing strategies Perform other related responsibilities as assigned
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree and one to two years' experience which demonstrates professional growth and development in the admission field required. Specific background and experience recruiting and counseling multicultural students and a strong commitment to client-centered services. Experience should demonstrate familiarity with marketing practices, management skills, and strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and database management systems is required. A valid driver's license is required as this position does travel extensively.
