Description
Position Overview:
The Project Manager is responsible for sourcing and managing projects for our custom millwork, metal and refrigeration products and solutions, including the fabrication and installation of customer woodwork products, specialty cabinetry and casework, and related products for retailers, convenience stores, restaurants, supermarkets, and other uses. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and eager to expand upon a well-established customer base.
Essential Job Functions:
Understand EMI's manufactured products and components and the intended and actual use of our products in the field. Develop new and maintain existing customer relationships, focusing on our custom manufacturing expertise. Clearly define and document all functions and responsibilities of the Division to fully perform all required duties to deliver the project properly and profitably. Prior to commencing activities on any project, assemble the team responsible, review the project plan, and obtain "buy in" from all responsible parties, soliciting feedback and adjusting as required. Develop the quality and packaging plan for the entire project (highlighting potential problem areas) and share with the entire team in a documented format. Use Microsoft Project to create a project plan identifying deadlines and responsible parties for all key elements required to properly execute the program successfully. Understand and meet (exceed) our customer's expectations. Ensure that all required approval drawings are submitted to the customer "on time" and that Engineering has all approved drawings when needed. Manage project changes, revisions, revised purchase orders and change order documents and make revisions in project tracking software (Microsoft Project). Document any changes or approvals that take place "outside of actual signed off approval drawings" to the party responsible for making the change or approval. Conduct weekly reviews of the project plan with the team. Source and price projects in a timely manner. Prepare cost estimates and custom quotations. Coordinate appropriate inventory levels and deliveries of products and materials with team. Generate and log actual material usage and time studies of key elements within the program (to be determined by V.E. targets, Age of Program, etc.). Coordinate orders and sales with shop supervisors and installation staff. Maintain a regular communication log of communications with GC or entities within the Customer's organization to ensure all deliveries are on time and complete, as well as identifying special delivery requirements. Proactively anticipate customer needs and actively and periodically solicit feedback on EMI performance. Ensure that all manufacturing divisions are working from the same set of Master Control Color Samples for non-standard finishes (i.e., paint, stains, clears, powder-coats, etc.). Identify and solve problems on-site. Use technology to provide real-time progress reports from the plant to the job site and vice versa. Keep project files orderly and current. Conduct a post-mortem on each project with the project team from Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing. Utilize the information from the Material and Labor analysis and the post-mortem to determine how to improve margin through improving processes, purchasing, and eliminate waste. Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge or background with woodworking, including design, CAD, shop experience, project management strongly preferred. Customer service skills to build relationships with external and internal customers. Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication. Proficient computer skills including MS Office programs. Proficient basic math skills. Ability to work in a demanding, multi-task environment. Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers, customers and vendors. Education and/or Experience:
Associates degree in project management, architectural or construction related field. Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience. Physical Demands:

The employee is also required to have average dexterity to use hands to, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
