Location:Location:Material Handler / Carpenter in Gardena, CA at Ducommun **Location:****Job Description****Material Handler / Carpenter****Job Description**Manually, by hand truck, forklift, truck, or overhead crane moves materials, supplies, andfinished goods to designated places in the facility.Operates forklift to load and unload company trucks and supplier trucksDrives truck to and from various intraplant locations to deliver or pick up materials, supplies,and finished goodsStacks skids or pallets in designated areas. Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing,packaging material, pallets and skidsUses tools such as hammers, crowbars, and tin snips to remove strapping, open crates orclose crates.Secures loads on truck by straps, chains, rope or other securing medium.Performs cleanup/housekeeping activitiesAssists with shear operations and inspection operations by moving material onto and off oftables, pallets or other holding devicesAssists with inventory counting and verification of stockPacks and protects materials, supplies and finished goods either for storage or transportPerforms safety checks and inspections of equipment (truck, forklift, overhead crane, strapsand lifting devices) as assignedTaking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed for building crates cutting, shaping and smoothing lumber and other material according to measurementsHands-on experience in working with carpentry materialsExcellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and constructionProficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (circular saws, hammers, rulers, jig saw, nail guns, staplersMust be able to measure aircraft parts and be able to build crates for shipments/transportationProven experience as carpenterPerforms other duties and assignments as directed by management**Skills & Qualifications**Good verbal communication skillsRead and understand material inventory tags, skid tags and material receiving documentationRead and understand basic routing instructions and bill of materialUnderstand and follow through on both verbal and written instructionsWilling to work overtime and weekend hours to support manufacturing and preparation foraudits and inventoriesMust be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly.Conscientiously reports problems or malfunctions of equipment.Experience/Training/Education/Certification: To perform this job successfully, an individualmust posses the outlined experience level, education, training and certifications in order to beconsidered.Forklift certifiedGood driving record, Class B licenseOverhead crane operation Successful completion of overhead crane training courseHigh school diploma or equivalent. Good math skills add, subtract, count, divide, multiplyPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that mustbe met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Must be in good physical condition, job requires strenuous activities and lots of walkingMust be able to climb in and out of trucks and off and on large forkliftsMust be able to bend, squat, kneel and climb a ladder in order to read inventory tags andmaterial skid tags and box markingsAble to lift up to 50 pounds of weight.
