As a
Senior Backend Software Engineer
at Via, you'll work within our core R&D center to shape the architecture, design, and development of our backend systems in a cutting-edge environment. Within Via's infrastructure, you'll focus on building optimized, scalable and innovative software solutions. Via prides itself on being a true partner to the public sector in helping make transit better for everyone but especially those in low income and minority communities. Via is not only a category leader in on-demand transit but has brought its exceptional technology and expertise to the Paratransit & Student transit world. You will be joining Via at a time of rapid growth, impacting hundreds of thousands of riders weekly, many of whom represent special needs populations, students, caregivers, and more.
What You'll Do:
Implement microservices from design to productionParticipate in all aspects of agile software development including: designing, hands-on coding, implementing, debugging, deployment, and troubleshootingEnsure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful application designResponsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of new product features and componentsResearch and explore new technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement and evolution of our tech stack to boost Via's solutionsImpact product development by making important technical decisions, influencing the system architecture, development practices and moreCollaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technical dependencies, mitigate risks, and ensure successful project deliveryChampion a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team and across ViaWho You Are:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experienceMinimum of 4 years of experience in backend software, with a proven track record of designing and building scalable, high-performance systemsMinimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in Python, Java, C++, or C#Solid programming foundations: data-structures, multi-threading, OOP and design patternsStrong understanding of CI/CD concepts and hands-on experience with related tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Github actionsStrong knowledge of database technologies (SQL/MySQL)Experienced with low-level performance optimizations, including profiling and memory analysisExpertise with cloud platforms: AWS, Serverless, KubernetesExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAbility to drive work forward independently in a cross-functional, geographically distributed team environmentCompensation and Benefits:
Final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, and skills.
