Institutional Effectiveness & ResearchRandolph-Macon College, a private, co-educational liberal arts institution, invites applications for a full-time Data Analyst in the office of Institutional Effectiveness & Research (IER). Reporting to the Director of IER, the Data Analyst will work closely with the Director, members of the Provost's Office, and faculty and staff to develop, implement, and disseminate analyses on a range of College information including student enrollment and demographics, retention, graduation, and financial aid, to support data needs of the College's academic and administrative units.Responsibilities:Support IER processes, including data analysis for federal and state reporting, academic and administrative assessment, accreditation, and external surveys/rankings. Respond to routine and ad-hoc data requests from internal and external stakeholders.Assist with dashboard development, key indicator reporting, production of annual Fact Book, and administration of surveys.Conduct quantitative analyses on topics including enrollment, retention, graduation, student demographics, facilities, and financial aid. Provide data support to College administrators, faculty, staff, and other members of the college community as needed. Present data in format suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.Design and implement predictive data models to facilitate data-driven decision making in areas such as strategic planning, admissions, financial aid, enrollment forecasting, and student retention.Analyze, interpret, and develop complex data into narrative reports and audience-appropriate data visualizations, executive summaries, and dashboards for use by stakeholders. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of data.Provide periodic reports regarding the status of assigned projects and recommend corrective actions when necessary.Qualifications:Master's degree in a research-based discipline (social sciences, education, computer or data sciences, statistics, etc.) and three years of related experience working with data desired, preferably in a higher ed setting. Bachelor's degree combined with related experience equivalent to Master's degree may be substituted.In-depth experience with statistical software and spreadsheets. Familiarity with database query language, data retrieval tools, and learning management systems. Ability to learn new software.Demonstrated understanding of statistical techniques. Ability to statistically synthesize and analyze data from multiple sources. In- depth understanding of research design and data visualization techniques.Commitment to professional development and continued learning, including attending conferences, webinars, and workshops to maintain up-to-date knowledge of institutional research methods and issues.Ability to communicate complex information effectively in writing and verbally with diverse audiences. Superior analytical and interpersonal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators. Commitment to student success and high standards of customer service.Ability to work independently, set goals, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate progress.Ability to work with confidential data.
