DescriptionThe Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) / Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.Perform Database Administration (DBA) activities on a daily basis such as monitoring storage, database performance, and RMAN back up verificationEnsure standby DataGuard databases are functioning properly with minimal lag timeDevelop strategies to migrate data between environmentsIdentify and resolve database performance issuesSupport the database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis activitiesSupport the analysis and evaluation of system improvements, optimization, development and/or maintenance efforts.Translate a set of requirements and data into a usable database schemasCreate and update data models using PowerDesignerAssist in developing database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development.Develop a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls.Direct the development of complex systems using queries, tables, Open -Database Connectivity and database storage and retrieval.One week of on-call support every 3-5 weeks required after ramp-up.
RequirementsA current Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.
A Bachelor's degree plus 12 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree plus 10 years of relevant experience. An Associate's degree plus 14 years of relevant experience or high school diploma/GED plus 16 years of experience may be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position. Certifications count as a year experience.
