Job Description: \ The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the interlocal and school districts.

Essential Functions:

Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.

{=html} - Communicate effectively with all members of the interlocal and community.

{=html} - Work effectively with community organizations.

{=html} - Support the value of an education.

{=html} - Support the mission and goals of the interlocal.

{=html} - Complete required reports in a timely manner as required by law.

General Responsibilities:

Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems.

{=html} - Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.

{=html} - Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to

determine the need for clinical services.

Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and re-evaluation process.

{=html} - Participate in the development of student IEPs. Complete required documentation in a timely manner.

{=html} - Adhere to required program guidelines as defined by the Federal and State law and regulation.

{=html} - Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available.

{=html} - Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies.

{=html} - Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.

{=html} - Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.

{=html} - Provide therapy, follow-up, and/or consultation based on student IEPs.

{=html} - Give intervention preference to procedures instruction which can be infused in the classroom setting and delivered by classroom personnel.

{=html} - Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.

{=html} - Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences.

{=html} - Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior.

{=html} - Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.

{=html} - Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning through appropriate classroom management.

{=html} - Related to speech and language development, plan and implement transitional programs for students.

{=html} - Assist students in developing feelings of self-worth and in making social adjustments which permit them to cope w th disabilities.

{=html} - Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.

{=html} - Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies.

{=html} - Supervise and train staff members as assigned.

{=html} - Assist with public awareness activities which lead to a better understanding of the needs of exceptional children.

{=html} - Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.

{=html} - Ensure that interlocal policies are observed during all activities.

{=html} - Obtain advance approval for all special activities and expenditures.

{=html} - Adhere to all interlocal health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Blood-borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.

{=html} - Participate in third party reimbursement - SPECTRA Project.

{=html} - Availability to work Extended School Year.

{=html} - Respond in a positive manner to changes in assigned duties.

{=html} - Obtain advanced approval for all special activities or expenditures.
