JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: 414 LIFE/Cure Violence Outreach Team Lead Purpose 414 LIFE is a public health approach established by the City of Milwaukee Health Department to break the cycle of conflict and retaliatory gun violence. 414 LIFE employs a team comprised of violence interrupters, outreach workers, and hospital responders who work collectively with individuals and families at highest risk of gun violence victimization. The program uses the Cure Violence model for community violence intervention. Scope: To provide direct support to the Outreach Supervisor and outreach team. To provide supportive services to crime victims and their family members. To actively work to de-escalate traumatized family members and friends who may be planning retaliatory violence. To work closely with the 414Life team to identify and intervene with others in the neighborhood most likely to instigate retaliation. To develop relationships with the community and its\' stakeholders. The overall goal is to keep the peace and prevent further conflict or retaliatory shootings and deaths. Primary Functions Support Outreach Workers in maintenance of the participant case load Lead efforts with identifying youth who are active in high-risk street organization and engage in high-risk street activity and intervening in their lives through case management to aid in solving current problems and preventing future ones, help facilitate positive behavior change, and introduce alternatives to violence Coordinate, plan and execute shooting responses and community facing events in collaboration with the Outreach Supervisor and Community Engagement Coordinator Plan and hold daily meetings/debriefings to review outreach engagement plans and assess what additional interventions are needed in the absence of the Outreach Supervisor Assist the outreach team in all public education activities including canvassing neighborhoods and responding to post-shooting crisis Lead efforts to build social capital / strong relationships with youth, residents, businesses, and community groups Advocate for youth through court testimonies, when necessary Help support and manage staff visibility after violent incidents take place in (developing networks with other outreach program workers to coordinate an inclusive and immediate strategic response) Identify and diffuse \"hot spots\" for shootings and violence (engage residents to- identify areas frequented by individuals at highest risk of gun violence victimization) Attend community meetings.
