The mission of Equitas Academy Charter Schools is to provide a structured, achievement-based community that prepares students to graduate from four-year colleges and universities. We currently serve over 2,000 students and operate six schools, four elementary schools and two middle schools in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The Community Schools Coordinator is a dedicated staff member responsible for bringing together integrated resources to create learning environments that help all students succeed. The coordinator will support a 'whole-child' approach, in line with the California Community Schools Model, with an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement. The Community Schools Coordinator will partner with staff, families, and community-based organizations to create the conditions students need to thrive. Additionally, the Community School Coordinator is responsible for implementing systems, procedures, and policies; monitoring and implementing projects and supporting monitoring of budgets. The position is 90% at school sites and 10% at the Network Office.

The Community Schools Coordinator reports to the school Principal.

Essential Responsibilities

Conducts needs assessments by working with school administrators, counselors, teachers, partner agencies, parents, and students to identify barriers to learning, available resources, and gaps in servicesIdentifies, engages, and recruits partners to offer programs and services for students and families based on the community's needs assessmentDevelops the continuum of services for the students, families and community members within the school neighborhoodAssists directly with information sharing and referral services to maintain an effective referral process to community resourcesCreates, strengthens and maintains the bridge between the school and the community by creating opportunities for shared leadership and trustFacilitates and provides leadership through collaboration in order to resolve related issues to service delivery, access and coordinationAssess for improvement and shared accountability between partnershipsAdvocates for students, families and community members within the school neighborhoodEstablishes and coordinates service teams to ensure needs are being met and services are being maximized to the extent possible and to make adjustments as neededFacilitates professional developmentSupports families during the SART Process Conducts Home Visits as neededFacilitates a Community Schools Advisory CouncilCollaborates with Network staff to support alignment of between schools and NetworkCollaborate with Site Admin, ELOP Coordinator, counselors, Operations teams, and other site staffDevelop and facilitate school and network-wide family workshopsQualifications and Experience

Bilingual Spanish/English RequiredAA degree or a minimum of 60 semester units requiredBA degree highly preferredAt least two years experience working with youth and families requiredAt least two years experience in a role that manages schedules, facilities, staff, or program developmentCurrent CPR and 1st Aid Certificate or within 3 months of employmentCriminal clearance, including fingerprints and TB Test required prior to employmentKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated ability in working with youth, parents, and community leadersStrong organization skills and calendaring skillsStrong communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to gather quantitative and observational data and monitor program trends

Salary

Competitive salary, commensurate with experience. Salary range starts at $66,560

Work Location:

This position requires working from a School site locations and does not have a work from home component

Position Contingencies:

This position is funded through the Community Schools Grant through June 2028
