We are committed to exceptional digital experiences and are rapidly expanding through organic growth and strategic acquisitions.The role:We are seeking an experienced Data Center Manager to oversee the operations and management of our Seattle-based data center. The Data Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance, and security of a data center. This includes overseeing day-to-day operations, managing a team of data center and facility technicians, ensuring the integrity of critical infrastructure, and implementing best practices for optimal performance and security.As a Data Center Manager with Evocative, your day-to-day will include the following:Facility ManagementOversee the data center's physical infrastructure, including power, cooling, security, and space management.Plan for capacity growth and scalability of the data center infrastructureEnsure compliance with environmental and safety standardsLeadershipSupervise, train, and develop a data center and facilities technician team.Create schedules and assign tasks to ensure 24/7 coverage and supportFoster a collaborative and high-performance team cultureEquipment MaintenanceWork with the Critical Facilities Team to maintain the critical equipment infrastructure.Work with the Critical Facilities Team to implement regular maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.Work with the Critical Facilities Team to coordinate equipment repairs and replacements.Security and ComplianceImplement and enforce security protocols to safeguard data center assets and information.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI)Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.Monitoring and ReportingImplement monitoring tools and systems to track the health and performance of data center infrastructure.Generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and make recommendations for improvements.Review and maintain incident response and reporting procedures.Budget ManagementDevelop and manage the data center budget, including equipment procurement, maintenance, and operational expenses.Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize resource utilizationProvide budget forecasts and justifications for new projectsEmergency Response and Business ContinuityReview and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plansLead the response to emergencies and incidents, such as power outages or equipment failuresEnsure quick and effective resolution to minimize downtimeVendor ManagementManage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and contractors.Negotiate contracts, review service level agreements (SLAs), and ensure compliance.Evaluate and select vendors for new equipment and services.DocumentationMaintain accurate records of all data center assets, configurations, and changes.Review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data center operations.Document incident reports, resolutions, and post-incident analyses.Qualifications:Ten years of Data Center experience with at least five years of experience leading data center operations/facilities teams.Strong understanding of the critical electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems used in Data Center facilities, including, but not limited to, electrical distribution systems, transformers, PLC’s, Switchgear, UPS Systems, STS’, ATS’, Generators, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH’s, Pre-Action Sprinkler SystemsStrong knowledge of fiber optics / cabling infrastructure and industry best practicesStrong vendor management skills, including service contract management.Familiarity with BMS/BAS and BCMS systemsExcellent leadership and team management skillsStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesKnowledge of security and compliance standardsBudget management experience is a plusEffective communication and interpersonal skillsWorking Conditions and Physical DemandsFlexibility to work within a 24/7/365 operational setting, adapting to varying work schedules as requiredThe position involves physical activities such as lifting and moving equipment, alongside exposure to typical data center conditions (e.g., noise levels, temperature variations).Capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 poundsAbility to perform tasks requiring climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawlingProficient in performing manual tasks, including typing, handling, and manipulating objects, with the ability to extend hands and armsVisual acuity for near and distant objects, as well as color vision.Ability to ascend ladders, including those extending over 12 feet in heightComfort with working in a dynamic, high-pressure environment with shifting priorities.Willingness to work beyond standard hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and in an on-call capacityEvocative is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
