Position Description: Sr. Designer
Responsibilities :
Support program initiatives by creating innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity.Work closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications.Ensure designs are free of layout process defects.Assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations.Apply CAD methodologies, theories, and techniques.Review various completed engineering documents for compliance with engineering and military standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions.Provide expert technical consultation to the division and customer community with comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of design.Develop highly innovative concepts for existing product lines and new product development programs.Ensure CAD models can transition easily to modeling and simulation software.Prepare complex design layouts, schematics, or sketches to satisfy system and integration requirements within cost and producibility constraints.Prepare drawing packages to military or equivalent ASME standards.Check completed layouts, drawings, test plans, test reports, procedures, and change history documentation for clarity, completeness, conformance to standards, and accuracy.Coordinate closely with systems engineers to ensure designs satisfy contractual requirements.Evaluate completed drawings, specifications, and procedures for producibility and viability of design, appropriateness of tolerances, fits, finishes, materials, and validate integration of equipment.Positions are in Fridley, MN, and are onsite only.Skills Required
Proficient in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Proficient in the use of applicable CAD equipment and drafting techniques, including 3D modeling and manipulation of filesComprehensive knowledge of military drawings and specifications, and applicable MILSPEC/STD'sComprehensive product line knowledge at the component, subsystem, and system levelsComprehensive knowledge of production methods and understanding of human factorsKnowledge of MBD (Model Based Definition) is a plusRecent CREO experience is a big plusSkills Preferred
Experience with MBD (Model Based Definition)Working knowledge of production methods and understanding of human factorsExperience Required
Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience using AutoCADCreo 7 experience is a plusExperience Preferred
Strong preference for candidates with past BAE Systems Combat Vehicle experienceExperience with relevant applications in a defense environmentRecent AutoCAD experienceMBD experienceRecent CREO experience is a big plusEducation Required
An Associate Degree with emphasis in engineering drafting/design or an equivalent combination of training and experienceMinimum of nine additional years of drafting and design experience, including five years of advanced design concepts and applications
