Job Description

LRS Consulting Services is seeking a Cloud Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Fort Worth, TX.

The Cloud Engineer position is responsible for design, installation, configuration, operation, and administration of the highly available hybrid cloud environment. Working within an agile shared services team, the position enables stable infrastructure for applications and participates in maintaining repeatable processes through automation of build, deployment, and proactive monitoring activities. The candidate must be able to understand developing trends in hybrid cloud technologies and practically apply solutions to meet stated business needs. The position drives cloud technology, operations but also requires knowledge of on-premise datacenter resources.

The position requires ability to make recommendations based on solid technical acumen, assist project teams as required, and provide third-tier support for issue resolution. The Cloud Engineer has subject matter experience in two or more of the following areas: Cloud Computing, Cloud Storage, Virtual Networks, Automation/Infrastructure as Code, Secure Networking, and DevSecOps. in an Azure or AWS cloud environment.

What will you be doing?

Works with supervision to establish, monitor and maintain Azure cloud environment, systems hardware, operating systems, and related network and security infrastructure to ensure reliable operations

Monitor Azure maintenance and outages, assess impact, and develop strategies to minimize impact

Collaborate, consult, coordinate task level work with developers and scrum teams on compute resource needs expansion or new feature deployment.

Ensure that network and system capacity projections are accurate and prevent service degradations due to lack of resources

Builds and automates cloud infrastructure current methods, templates and automation toolsets

Optimize network infrastructure for IaaS, SaaS, PaaS and other cloud applications

Produce and maintain documentation for use in the installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of cloud and on-premise related infrastructure

Research connectivity, performance and related security issues to determine root cause and implement a plan of action to resolve these issues

Participate in design and implementation of architectural roadmaps regarding Hybrid cloud infrastructure

Design technical infrastructure & cloud processes, integrate solutions into existing infrastructure, consult on development projects, help deploy solutions that meet business and technical requirements

Coordinate with service providers, vendors and various teams to ensure timely resolution of infrastructure related issues

Participate in on-call rotation and be available for special duties outside normal working hours

What skills/qualifications do you need?

Education

Bachelor Degree in computer science or similar field required

Work Experience

Required

5+ years progressive working in computing or network infrastructure

1+ years’ experience in a cloud environment, preferably Azure as a cloud network engineer, administrator, and/or DevOps role

Demonstrated experience building and operating cloud infrastructure

Experience in automation (Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Code) and management of both on-premises infrastructure and applications, cloud hosted Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service capabilities (Azure) including virtual machines, virtual networks, and automation tools

Experience with CI/CD platforms and tools such as Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Azure Dev Ops or similar

Be able to deploy through automation and translate from and/or contribute to application design architectures for Azure

Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and DevOps processes

Experience with load balancing platforms

Preferred experience with the following technologies:

Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2016/2012

Cloud Infrastructure (Azure or AWS)

Securing and monitoring cloud resources

Linux/Unix

Cisco Route/Switch platforms

Palo Alto or related cloud-based firewall technologies

Certifications

Current MCSE preferred

Current Azure certifications preferred

Current AWS certifications a plus

Cisco (CCNA, CCNP) a plus
