We are seeking a

Job Coach

in

Rockville, MD

to supervise and train adults with special needs on how to acquire the skills needed to perform specific tasks, work routine, and personal life activities that are critical to successful employment. The Job Coach uses best practices and technology within a community-based employment setting. TheJob Coach will supervise and train consumers with developmental disabilities on how to acquire the skills needed to perform specific tasks, work routine, and personal life activities that are critical to successful employment. This person will use the least intrusive methods to prepare the consumer for the job.

Starting rate is:

$18.00 an hour

Responsibilities

Provide the necessary assistance to the consumer in order for the consumer to be placed in competitive employment and maintain employmentTeach the consumer independent job skills, requirements utilizing job task analysis, job specific supports, including assistive technology and personal assistanceAssist consumers in reinforcing essential skills, or teaching new skills in developing a resume, conducting a successful job interview, and completing a job applicationWork side by side with consumers at the job site, analyzing the job requirements and breaking it into manageable components that can be taught to the consumerComplete any unfinished work of the consumer during the initial trainingIdentify and solve problems before they become a crisis for the consumer, employer and coworkersBuild a support network between the consumers and community membersCommunicate consumer’s progress to the employer and support people, including family, residential staff and other professionalsAccurately complete all documentationAttend conferences, seminars, and training as neededEmployees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigationAdditional tasks and responsibilities may be assignedMinimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalentTwo years’ full-time work experience in employment or related fieldSuccessful completion of required trainingsState trainings as requiredValid driver's license with satisfactory driving recordKnowledge of Microsoft OfficeKnowledge of employer expectations and local job marketAbility to analyze a job and break it into manageable componentsAbility to exercise good judgment and remain calm in a crisis situationAbility to effectively and professionally communicate/interact with people at a variety of levels, both internally and externallyAbility to present ideas and factual data in a clear concise mannerAbility exercise professional judgment and common sense on a daily basisAbility to work creatively within the agency structure and as a team member with others in the agency and the communityAbility to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with consumersAbility to read and write EnglishAbility to lift 50 pounds (weight of average manual wheelchair when chair is empty)Working Conditions

Frequent lifting, stretching and other physical exertion during positioning of consumer’s or equipmentWhile performing the duties of the job, travel required by automobile, utilizing own vehicle, and is exposed to changing weather conditionsMay transport participants in own vehicleMay occasionally assist with wheelchair transfer of non-ambulatory participantsMay be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseasesWork will take place in the administrative office, community, and in the homesWork a flexible schedule as determined by needs of the consumer and the supervisorOccasional overtime requiredCompetitive Benefits:
