Underwriting Specialist
specializing in commercial lines of business in our main Austin office.Major Job Responsibilities:
Works with assigned underwriter to rate and service commercial lines of business including Workers' Compensation and Multi-Line Liability/Property;Data entry - Accurately and independently enter and rate exposures;Produce documents associated with Member coverages on bids, proposals and re-rates that reflect established rates and guidelines;Regular phone, email and written communication with Members and internal staff;Address basic coverage questions and respond to Member requests (such as auto and property schedule changes, certificate requests);Research and evaluate specific building attributes, value calculations and rating components;May create and maintain queries from multiple databases, including basic analysis of results.Required Skills and Knowledge:
This position requires knowledge of insurance principles, extensive data entry, attention to detail, Microsoft Excel proficiency, basic mathematical skills and phone and email interaction.
The successful candidate must possess the skills to work with multiple public and private agencies and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Pool employees, public officials, members, and prospective members.
Valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license is required.Education and Experience:
A bachelors' degree, insurance related designation (CPCU or CIC) or college coursework is preferred, or if you have three years of insurance related work experience.
Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications subject to a minimum of $5,160 monthly.
Position has a complete benefits package including Major Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance; participation in the Texas Municipal Retirement System; and a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan with a Roth deferral option.
