Forklift Operator

SUMMARY: Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOperation and care of forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.Locate stock before the start of the run.Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on timeExamine products to verify conformance to quality standards.Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to - production data, machine operational status, safety data, quality data.Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSManufacturing experience in the corrugated industry preferred.Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.Knowledge of various material-handling equipment an asset.Prior work experience as a forklift operator preferred.Knowledge of product quality specificationsKnowledge equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.Maintain a clean and safe environmentForklift certification per OSHA standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.Exposure to wet and humid conditions.Exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSRequired to maintain a current Fork Lift Operator License.
