ABOUT THIS ROLE

This opportunity is for a Director, Software Development who will manage and grow one or more engineering teams for Audible’s Machine Learning Engineering (MLE) team. MLE will build out the core platforms and assets to enable informed data-driven decisions in order to improve Audible's overall value to the customer. The team enables Automation, self-service mechanisms, and infrastructure improvements that will allow data scientists to experiment and add novel features more quickly, and enable both existing and new models in production to retrain more frequently to be more responsive to customer behavior. Achieving this vision means continuously innovating, enhancing the tools and strengthening our development process, how we work and leveraging new technologies to deliver services. We need your help to develop and deliver on this global vision.

As a Director, Software Development, you will:Lead cross-functional project delivery across Audible and Amazon teamsPromote development and operational excellence for our flagship solutionsMentor and support high-performing engineers, fostering their growth and expertiseCollaborate with diverse teams to create innovative software that captivates our community and motivates our colleaguesHandle all aspects of software development, including operational metrics and support for your team's softwareDrive continuous improvement of delivery performance and quality in an agile environmentTake charge of 1-2 Scrum teams

Basic Qualifications

7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teamsExperience partnering with product OR program management teams3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systemsExperience leading full stack development web teams5+ years experience of software development and deployment of distributed multi-tier applications3+ years experience managing agile software projects across multiple and geographically distributed teamsExperience leading teams that leveraged ML OPS/tools to build/deploy ML models to deliver best in class customer experiencesExperience implementing solutions leveraging AWS capabilitiesExpertise in building large scale systems using Java/JEE using a variety of Enterprise architectural patterns

Preferred Qualifications

Experience/Expertise in working with stakeholders across different disciplines (i.e. Data science, Product Management etc.).
