Position PurposeMaintains District servers including physical hardware, software and backup systems. Monitors server operations; recommends and performs updates accordingly. Maintains a strict process control procedure in order to ensure the maximum uptime of the District's computing systems; works closely with other District teams to resolve network issues. Supports in day-to-day technology administration of systems and technology support activities for end users. Administers systems, networking, devices, conference room hardware/software, and end user devices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Installs, configures, monitors, and maintains computer hardware, and/or software applications to ensure efficient operations.Configures and maintains administrative servers, application servers, and file share servers (VMWare VSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows OS Server 2016 and higher).Configures and maintains network services-based servers (e.g. DNS, DHCP, IIS, Active Directory (AD), LDAPS, ADFS, F5 load balancer, email - Office 365, proxy, SSL certificates, antivirus, security, VPN access, SQL, DFS, content filtering, etc.).Configures, and maintains Virtualization environment with VMWare vSphere 6.X, ESXi hosts, VDI solutions - View Desktops, and HP Blade Servers.Configures vendor hosted or third-party applications for secure authentication using Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), Lightweight Directory Authentication Protocol (LDAPS), or other authentication protocols.Configures and maintains ticketing system.Manages and monitors the district virtual desktop infrastructure and endpoint configuration.Ensures all operating systems are updated and functioning appropriately for each server role.Maintains an inventory of servers including hardware, operating system, and application information.Keeps up-to-date documentation and procedures for server operations.Participates in the planning, testing, configuration and setup of Microsoft Active Directory.Provides a point of escalation and support to the Customer Support Group.Participates in weekend or weeknight maintenance activities when required.Manages and monitors daily backup and data replication jobs.Collaborates with other departments to determine proper hardware and software configuration for various software applications.Enforces change management and compliance processes.Maintains user accounts and group membership information either manually or through an identity management system.Assists to create and maintain Group Policy Objects.Assists with software packaging and deployment via SCCM.Installs printers on print servers and printer scripts.Assists other departments with the design and implementation of IT resources.Safety

Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition.Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.Supervisory Responsibilities

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 7, 8.1, 2008R2, 2012 R2, 2016 server).Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite, TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, LDAP, SNMP, SSL, etc.Knowledge of ADFS, LDAPS, SAML, OAUTH, and other authentication protocols.Knowledge of core Microsoft technologies including Windows Server 2016 or higher.Knowledge of Windows PowerShell as it relates to Windows administration.Knowledge of VMware virtualization (servers and virtual desktops).Knowledge of basic routing and switching protocols/technologies.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.Skill in writing and editing technical documentation and operational procedures.Skill in troubleshooting difficult issues that may require extensive research, as well as considering all aspects of an issue including hardware, software, network, security issues, and potential programming issues.Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.Skill in interpersonal relationships, including using tact, patience, and courtesy.Skill in coordinating, planning, organizing, leading, and completing projects.Ability to continually improve technical knowledge.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including principles of English and grammatical usage.Ability to work effectively in collaborative teams, including teams from other departments.Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.Ability to use software to create spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.Ability to self-evaluate regarding performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted during work.Travel Requirements

Education:

Accredited High School diploma, GED, or Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency required;Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in a related field preferred.

Certification/License:

Microsoft certification preferred.Experience:

2-6 years' experience in IT infrastructure required.Approved combinations:Education Experience
