Overview

Milliman is looking for a

Healthcare Business Analyst Intern

to support our consulting work with pharmaceutical manufacturers. Our Healthcare Business Analyst internship is designed to give up-and-coming business leaders exposure to key data-driven questions in the healthcare field and provide a look into the support we offer our clients on a day-to-day basis. You will be part of a dynamic client delivery team and receive mentoring from colleagues on your team. Successful business analyst interns are interested in both solving data-driven problems and forming trusted relationships with our clients, and will display a proficiency for communicating technical results to external audiences less familiar with the underlying data.

NOTE: This position develops into an external-facing consulting role with regular client interaction. Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Utilize your analytical, written, and verbal communication skills to answer data-driven questions on key topics in the healthcare industryUse complex databases to analyze client data and summarize findings through presentations, spreadsheets, data visualizations, and other reportsDevelop and track progress on detailed project plans to serve as a critical communication toolShow an aptitude for and interest in developing trusted client-facing relationshipsCoordinate project reviews and quality assurance proceduresTurn data insights into actionable solutions and strategies to solve complex problemsCommunicate outcomes to audiences who less familiar with the dataQualifications

Possess a working knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts, alongside a genuine interest in growing into a client-facing consulting roleBe a naturally curious self-starter and willing to learn when faced with an unfamiliar subjectBe proficient in managing time to ensure successful completion of assigned tasks by deadlines while involved with multiple projectsPassionate about building trusted relationships with both external clients and internal colleaguesInterested in developing a diverse skill set and taking on a variety of responsibilities across projectsStrong presentation, organization, time management skillsDetail-oriented and capable of carrying out tasks independently as part of a cross-functional project teamRequired

Working toward a Bachelor's degree or higher, with a concentration in a relevant field (e.g., Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics)Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, or other similar software, for the analysis and communication of quantitative resultsExposure to performing data analysis using a quantitative software (e.g., Python, R, SAS, SQL)Internship Highlights:

The pharmaceutical consulting team is a group of 40+ individuals in the Indianapolis Health practice from varying backgrounds including actuaries, data analysts, pharmacists, and graphic designers. This group works primarily with pharmaceutical manufacturers by combining healthcare and payer knowledge, available data, analytic rigor, and industry experience to produce strategic and tactical insights for their clients.

Location

This position is based out of the Milliman office in Indianapolis, IN. Candidates hired into this role must be willing to work onsite full-time.
