Product Owner – minneapolis, MN

Our client, a leading software company in the compliance and reporting space, is seeking a visionary Product Owner to join its growing construction franchise. You will oversee the development of the industry’s leading construction-centric SaaS product that fills gaps for major payroll/HCM companies in the U.S.

You will be responsible for the delivery of the product vision and writing user stories and collaborating with software developers using the Agile methodology. You will manage a development backlog by documenting and prioritizing features and functionality for the product, and owning a process for continuous direct client and partner interactions designed to elicit and document feedback on the product.

You should be able to demonstrate how your past success will transfer to our client and how you will thrive in a growing, fast paced, and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Define and execute the construction franchise product vision.

Own the construction franchise product roadmap.

Current key roadmap initiatives that are in progress include:

Building job costing functionality, including but not limited to:

* * Support of at least 8 layers of job cost detail on time

Defaulting of job cost information based on other factors (e.g., work class X defaults to cost code Y)

Allocation of external labor costs based on proportion of hours or gross wages (overhead allocation)

Inclusion of job costing information in a configurable export

Building support for union requirements, including but not limited to:

Union Management

Pay rates by union

Deductions and fringes by union

Tracking hours worked to union

Adjustments/retroactive rate changes

Exports able to include pay, fringes, and deductions

Participate in all Agile sessions and ceremonies specific to the Points North construction franchise, including sprint reviews for both internal and external stakeholders.

Own the writing of user stories and play an active role in the planning and prioritization of the product backlog, ensuring it is up to date with prioritized work items that contain complete descriptions that allow others to visualize the intended outcome.

Own a regular and continuous process of client and partner interaction designed to elicit feedback on the product. This includes establishing a process to document and report on the resulting data from this process, including the effects it has on the product roadmap.

Play an active role in assessing potential risks and mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals.

Work closely with the Points North leadership team, including reporting on the progress of key franchise/product goals and initiatives and related business data.

Learn and eventually command full technical and user-centric knowledge of the existing Points North construction product and key partner products, including how the Points North product interfaces/integrates with partner solutions per their requirements and the use cases that clients derive value from.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2-5+ years’ experience in a Product Owner or Product Manager role.

Proven experience in the construction/prevailing wage/union space in the context of product owner/product manager work.

Proven experience in owning a strategic product roadmap.
