The

Sr. Technical Specialist - Vehicle Dynamics & Chassis Integration

will lead all Karma Vehicle Dynamics & Chassis Integration from start to finish (Program definition through SOP) for each Karma Auto Program to achieve refined stable, connected, and capable driving dynamics within the program's constraints and assumptions. This role will have an impact on achieving refined, stable, connected, and capable vehicle dynamics for each program.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):Lead & Execute Vehicle Dynamic Target Setting including predictive analysis and benchmarking.Lead & Execute Vehicle Dynamics Functional Requirements & Design Parameters Cascade from the Full Vehicle to subsystems, including:

Aerodynamics TargetsFrame local and global compliance requirements to allow the suspension to do its job.Support Chassis DRE's Functional Requirements and Design Parameters cascade from subsystems to components.Support the NVH team for refined secondary ride (impact harshness) and road noise.

Lead and Execute Vehicle Dynamics Analysis to achieve the Targets within the program constraints and assumptions.

Analysis from the simple to complex- from hand calculations to high fidelity vehicle dynamic modeling in Ahlman Engineering Dynamic powered by CarSim & SuspensionSim

This includes continuous model validation with physical data.

Leading tire testing and analysis when necessary

Lead vehicle dynamics development supplier/partners requirements and test plan, as required.Lead and Execute Chassis System Integration including:

Analysis from the simple to complex- from hand calculations to high fidelity vehicle dynamic modeling in Ahlman Engineering Dynamic powered by CarSim & SuspensionSimSprings, bars, and shocks recommendations supporting the ride and handling development team to achieve stable, connected, and capable steering, ride, and handling vehicle dynamics.Suspension kinematics and compliance (geometry and bushing rates)

Lead and execute vehicle dynamics related data acquisition system and sensor specification, configure, and set up on vehicle, running the data acquisition system and post processing of the data including scripts, as required.Highlight mismatches between vehicle dynamic goals, program constraints and assumptions while providing alternatives.Lead licensing and technical support with MSC for CarSim and SuspensionSimLead any required updates and software fixes to AE DynamicCreate vehicle dynamics tools and methods as needed.Mentor other team members as applicable.Other duties, as assigned.Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master's preferred.12+ years of demonstrated experience in applied vehicle dynamics with a strong history of achieving overall results.This includes a significant balance of theoretical knowledge, above required vehicle and chassis system analysis and practical experience.

Strong experience in usage and application of vehicle data acquisition systems from sensor specification through calibration, acquiring the data, post processing and analysis.PI V6, Motec, AIM, McLaren

Application and programming in Matlab, Python, Visual Basic and similar are preferred.CAD Catia V5 or V6 usage preferred, but not required.Demonstrated ability to lead when necessary and mentor/guide less experienced teammates.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teammates to sell your ideas, concepts, and designs to achieve results.Demonstrated ability to deliver analysis on difficult projects with tight timing constraints.A motivator that is organized and a team player, who can offer solid solutions to quickly resolve challenging design issues with a creative passion for innovation. Compensation:

$145,000 - 185,000

/annual salary. Compensation will vary DOE.

At Karma, our base pay is one part of our total rewards package.

Compensation offered may vary on multiple factors, including market location, education, skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position being offered.
