Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 10-20 hours per week) Student Information Technology position for the College of Forestry Help Desk at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position is responsible for helping faculty, staff, and students with their Informational Technology (IT) needs at a student run help desk. This position will include working with lab computers, storage servers, networks, printers, and software applications.

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of studyMust meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employmentMust meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

Helpful but not required skills include:

Basic Networking Knowledge: Understanding of network configurations, IP addressing, and troubleshooting network issues.Familiarity with Remote Support Tools: Experience using remote desktop software to assist users.Knowledge of Cybersecurity Basics: Awareness of common security threats and best practices for protecting sensitive information.Experience with Mobile Devices: Ability to troubleshoot issues on smartphones and tablets, including both iOS and Android platforms.Scripting and Automation: Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate repetitive tasks.Database Management: Understanding of basic database concepts and experience with database management systems like SQL.Project Management Skills: Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies to help manage and track helpdesk projects.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

The Student worker may be required to work anywhere from 12-24 hours per week.
