To fully support the mission of Northeast Iowa Community College through the functions of teaching, service and scholarship. To provide effective instruction to ensure academic programming attains student learning outcomes and prepares students for successful transition into the workforce or transfer to a post-secondary institution. To carry out assigned responsibilities to ensure academic programs are sustainable and aligned with accreditation standards.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must be a Registered Paramedic licensed in the state of Iowa, have a baccalaureate degree, a minimum of three years of experience as a Paramedic, and a minimum of three years of experience teaching in the emergency services industry.
Primary courses taught may include: Paramedic I, Paramedic II, and Paramedic III lecture, lab, and field coursework.
Must meet minimum experience and education requirements as outlined by the Iowa Code sections 260C.47 and 260C.48 and the Northeast Iowa Community College
Quality Faculty Plan . Duties and Responsibilities Remain current with methods and developments in the content area. Possess the expertise to deliver courses in multiple formats; face-to-face, online, hybrid. Utilize current technologies to support teaching. Complete delegated teaching assignment in accordance with guidelines for teaching format. Meet all class, office and college commitments. Participate in the development of a cohesive general education program and/or career and technical program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establish a representative program advisory board and respond to recommendations. Ensure an ongoing process of curriculum evaluation. Evidence a commitment to the assessment of student learning. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Follow assessment activity timeline/deadlines. Incorporate assessment activities in the instructional content. Facilitate collaboration among all faculty teaching in the program/course to ensure course content and embedded assessments are consistent. Evidence a commitment to ongoing program evaluation. Annual review of Annual Key Performance Indicator Review document. Participate in compiling Comprehensive Program Review packets. Participate in compiling accreditation packets. Review of annual Common Learning Outcomes dashboards. Maintain a classroom environment that supports retention and completion. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Utilize instructional methods that require student engagement and collaboration. Provide feedback, assessments and grades according to prescribed guidelines. Ensure the classroom environment provides respect for diversity and individual viewpoints. Emphasize to all classes the importance of prompt and regular class attendance. Provide persistent outreach to students not attending class or meeting class requirements. Initiate referrals for identified at-risk student behaviors. Assist in the placement and success of students. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Incorporate authentic learning into courses and programs. Engage with students in co-curricular activities. Reinforce career pathway leading to workforce placement and/or transfer upon graduation. Essential Functions Maintain credentials and expertise in accordance with College guidelines and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Meet requirements of Quality Faculty Plan. Remain current with methods and developments in the content area. Maintain technical competencies related to area of instruction. Incorporate current technology practices into the classroom. Comply with State and Federal Guidelines. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Record daily student attendance in the learning management system. Submit accurate grades in accordance with prescribed guidelines. Provide accommodations as identified by Disability Services. Maintain student privacy in accordance with professional and/or legal standards. Participate in program orientations, promotion and recruiting/enrollment events. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Engage with pre-program students. Participate in on-campus orientation and promotional events. Participate in off-campus job fairs, high school and/or community events. Contribute as a member of the College community. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Complete student advising, registration and/or mentoring activities as assigned. Engage with students using different modalities when off campus. Virtually, phone, text, etc. Attend and participate in all faculty meetings. Attend and participate in all program advisory meetings. Attend and participate in all statewide workgroups relevant to assigned programs. Serve on at least one college committee or student organization annually. Carry out assigned responsibilities in alignment with the College conduct code. Maintain accountability, efficiency, and proactive utilization of program and college resources. Perform coordination for District-Wide EMS programming and duties of Peosta Campus Paramedic Program Director: Organize and coordinate advisory board committee meetings and submission of meeting minutes. Ensure the Paramedic program adheres to accreditation standards. Collaborate with Medical Director on program coordination. Complete and submit timely accreditation reports. Coordinate and oversee student clinical and field experiences. Plan and schedule lab assistants. Assist in student advising and registration. Maintain student attendance records to comply with Federal Financial Aid Guidelines. Prepare and submit accurate grade reports to the Department Dean as requested. Assist dean with annual program budget. Submit purchase orders for materials needed for instructional assignments. Keep accurate inventories of all equipment and supplies. Promptly report repairs needed for the classroom and equipment. Assist in recruiting students as needed. Collaborate with district-wide EMS program managers. Perform additional duties as assigned.
