ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to spearhead the development of a new platform within the Hut 8 ecosystem. To succeed, you must be comfortable designing, developing, and architecting backend infrastructures from the ground up as well as implementing frontend functionality and creating near pixel perfect designs for consumer facing pages.
As our inaugural full-stack hire on this project, you will make pivotal decisions that will influence the long-term scalability and performance of the platform and impact our user's experience and ultimately their conversions. This means having opinions on tech stack and implementation strategies, with the information and knowledge to back up your opinions.
This position offers the dynamism of a startup environment within the stability of an established company. It requires an entrepreneurial mindset and the capability to manage multiple priorities effectively. You will work closely with a compact, interdisciplinary team, necessitating superb communication skills to align development efforts and meet project deadlines.
Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack software applications using Python for backend and React for frontend.Work closely with Product, Design, Operations, and Corporate Development teams to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into practical technical solutions across the software stack.Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other engineers.Optimize application performance and troubleshoot complex issues to ensure a high standard of reliability and functionality. Participate in on-call shifts as necessary.Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data and prevent vulnerabilities.Demonstrate ambition, drive, and the work ethic necessary to succeed in a startup-like environment within a large company.Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.At least 4 years of experience as a Software Engineer, with significant exposure to full stack development.Strong proficiency in:
Backend Development : Python, database design, development, and optimization using PostgreSQL.Frontend Development : React, and modern JavaScript libraries and tooling.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Cloud Functions.Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex software issues independently.Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working effectively in dynamic team environments.Adaptability to changing priorities and business needs, with a drive to take on new challenges.Nice To Haves:
Experience scaling backend systems to thousands of users.A background in UI/UX design and a portfolio of visually compelling and user-friendly web applications.A keen interest in cryptocurrencies and bitcoin mining.Background in startup environments and familiarity with bootstrap development.Experience in developing consumer facing products.
