Position Summary: As the Vice President of Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, increasing our margin profile, and expanding our market presence. Reporting directly to the CCO, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales strategies, identifying new business opportunities, and nurturing key client relationships. Your deep understanding of our company’s operations, capacity, and capabilities will enable you to effectively communicate our value proposition and tailor solutions to meet customer requirements. Additionally, your previous experience in contract manufacturing will be highly advantageous in this role. Remote role with travel. Key Responsibilities:
Create and implement sales plans and strategies to achieve company objectives, including topline revenue and bottom-line profitability targets. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including prospecting and lead generation, at the c-suite and vice president levels for Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies. Manage current business totaling 450M lbs and $350M tolling revenue. Develop a high-performing sales team that will deliver Hearthside’s topline and profitability objectives, open new business with existing customers and prospects, and empower them to negotiate and close larger deals by promoting and leveraging HFS’ market-leading value proposition and capabilities. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers and strategic partners, serving as the primary point of contact for all business development activities. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, engineering, and commercial finance, to ensure alignment of sales initiatives with company capabilities and resources. Strategically leverage market research, competitive analysis, and category and consumer insights to define customer-specific strategies that support overarching Hearthside objectives; build a solutions-oriented selling culture that effectively uses data, insights, technology, and value-added services to drive revenue and profit growth. Lead contract negotiations and drive the closing of high-value deals, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company. Provide regular sales forecasts, performance metrics, and market insights to senior management, contributing to strategic decision-making and resource allocation. Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to enhance brand visibility and foster new business relationships. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred. 10+ years professional experience with at least 5 years in senior leadership positions; a minimum of 5 years’ experience with contract manufacturing and/or co-packing in the US market required. Significant experience as a sales leader with senior level relationships at key consumer packaged goods companies ranging from best-in-class to emerging. Diverse functional experience is required; while grounded and tested in sales, the successful candidate will have experience in finance, operations (customer service, supply chain, logistics), and/or strategy; divisional general management experience highly desired. Has worked in an organization with a productive Sales and Marketing interface and an integrated and flexible commercial go-to-market strategy; has played a leadership role evolving and refining this proposition. Has developed and implemented strategic business development plans to drive growth and expand market share within the consumer packaged goods industry, preferably in food & beverage. Demonstrated ability to cultivate and lead high-performing Sales teams in an ultra-competitive environment while working to innovate across categories. Demonstrated experience leading disciplined customer relationship management and pricing, including continuous evaluation of key processes. Has led and developed individual customer strategies that support the migration from a reactionary sales organization to one where the company leads the proactive solutioning, innovation, and value-added potential for current and potential customers. Appreciation for outsourced manufacturing and ability to create solutions and influence current and potential customers. Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend industry events, and support business development activities.
