Womankind uses the multidimensionality of our Asian heritage to work alongside survivors of gender-based violence as they build a path to healing. We are working tirelessly to create a future where we Rise Above Violence and our communities can innovate towards collective well-being, restoration, and social justice. In addition to promoting healing and safety through service provision, Womankind promotes gender justice through research, coalition building, policy analysis, and community education and mobilization.Project Free is the anti-human trafficking (HT) Program within Womankind. The advocate will provide specialized community outreach and awareness raising, emotionally supportive counseling and case management to survivors of human trafficking. Recognizing that survivors can experience various forms of exploitation and often hold multiple truths, the advocate will have the opportunity to provide support to all survivors of gender-based violence. The advocate will work closely with the Project Free Manager and will receive weekly supervision, training and have access to the resources available at Womankind. The role will also work with various teams at Womankind to bolster learning and deepen the mission of the organization.Essential Functions:Direct Client Work (50%)Provide case management, emotionally supportive counseling, and crisis intervention to approximately 20-25 clients. This includes supporting clients with family reunification and drafting letters of support.Practice trauma-informed care, ensuring clients receive prompt and professional services and holistic supportMaintain proper documentation of case work and organization of physical and electronic case filesProvide legal, immigration, benefit and housing information and referralsContribute ideas and resources to improve Project Free and the broader organizationSupport helpline calls, as necessaryConduct and participate in training, outreach and community education events, at least 1-2 events per quarterSupport in reporting and logistical planningAdministrative (20%)Attend team site meetings and actively contribute to the collaboration of work projects happening within the programAttend all staff meeting to learn about organizational wide updatesAttend and facilitate (when assigned) monthly Client Services meetings to support in-service learning of all Client Services staffProfessional Development (10%)Attend trainings and/or conferences (internal and external) to build capacity and knowledge on human trafficking and other forms of gender-based violenceOrganizational ResponsibilitiesWork in partnership with program team to build collaborative work environmentQualifications:Minimum: Bachelors in Social Work, Psychology or related field, plus at least 3 years direct practice with vulnerable populationsOral and written fluency preferred in BengaliExperience with anti-violence work, the Asian community, criminal justice, client advocacy and/or human traffickingOpen-minded, proactive and mindfulAbility to exhibit personal responsibility and commitment to work; follow-through and accountabilityProficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Salesforce and other database systemsMust have a high level of organizational skillsWork Location and Work Schedule:While the advocate will be stationed in Manhattan, New York, reasonable travel is expected to another community office depending on client needs as required.The work schedule for the position includes regular day shifts (9 am-5 pm). The role must be willing to work outside the normal business hours, due to the needs of the program. Womankind has developed a hybrid working model. The required onboarding period for the newly hired advocate will be in-person 5 days per week for at least three months. Thereafter, the hybrid model will be in place, and the advocate will be able to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.Compensation Package:The annual salary range for this position is between $48,000 to $50,000.Womankind offers a competitive and outstanding compensation package.
