Korn Ferry International, Tampa, Florida, us, 33646
The Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) of the University of South Florida (USF) is conducting a national search for a distinguished academic clinical leader in gastroenterology to serve as the
Division Chief & Director, Digestive Diseases & Nutrition
within the Department of Internal Medicine.
The Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition encompasses all subspecialties of gastroenterology. The faculty have been recognized in USN&WR rankings for 9 consecutive years and in 2023 were ranked #15 in the nation for state-of-the-art patient care.
As Division Chief, the successful candidate will have accountability for the coordination of operations and outcomes of all clinical activities of Digestive Diseases & Nutrition faculty and staff located at USF and TGH locations. The Division Chief will be expected to bring improvement to clinical operations, especially patient access and referring physician satisfaction. There must be a deep commitment to quality and safety in patient care as well as a focus on contribution to value-based care through facilitating hospital throughput and cancer screenings. The Division Chief will also be a co-leader of the TGH GI & GI Surgery Service Line, and thus it is paramount that the selected candidate partner with TGH administrative leadership to continue enhancing the national reputation of services provided at TGH and to expand the breadth and depth of top-rated gastroenterology services at TGH and its sites.
The Division Chief will also be expected to contribute to the Division’s journey to a stronger academic culture, by launching a clinical research portfolio and engaging each faculty member in scholarly work. Our Division Chiefs in all Divisions have academic responsibility for mentorship of faculty who primarily practice at affiliate sites such as the VA and Moffitt; this includes inclusion in research and publications, mentorship for promotion and tenure, and feedback and leadership in fellowship educational outputs. Lastly, the Chief will need to bring strong support for enhancing a fellowship program to be competitive with top national training programs; and the integration of discovery and innovation with clinical practice.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of clinical expertise in gastroenterology and academic accomplishments to facilitate delivering exceptional clinical care, research and education. They will be experienced leaders with strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work and interact with a diversity of individuals. Strong candidates will have demonstrated an ability to recruit and retain faculty and staff, and to lead and grow programs in a complex academic environment, ensuring that the academic and clinical activities of the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition continue to bring value to its many internal and external stakeholders, and distinction to USF Health. Qualified candidates possess a medical degree from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service, as well as a current, unrestricted medical license in the State of Florida or be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Florida. Candidates must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology.
All interested applicants are invited to apply and submit a CV and Letter of Interest.
USF is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer and Educator. Women and members of underrepresented minority groups are encouraged to apply.
