Job Summary
The Technical Designer is responsible for developing precise and accurate design drawings for construction and fabrication and providing support to the senior technical design team. This role works in collaboration with other technical designers, the concept design team, PM/AM's, and Solution Consultants to develop accurate and cost effective shop/fabrication drawings. The drawings reflect the conceptual design intent while incorporating structural details and fabrication methods to enable the manufacturing team to clearly and efficiently translate them into the built environment.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Deliver Highly Accurate Technical Design DrawingsTechnical Collaboration & CoordinationFollow/Implement Design-Standards & SpecificationsJOB FUNCTION
Drawing Production:Deliver accurate and high-quality scaled drawings, at the level of detail appropriate for the project type.Interpret concept and design intent sketches, drawings, renderings and material and hardware specifications, translating them into fabrication-ready shop drawing and construction document sets.Collaborate with the engineering/fabrication (shop) teams to solve challenging construction details and methods.Ability to interpret site survey information and design within code parameters.Meet client-driven schedules.Revise drawings per the Project Design team /Engineer/clients comments.Drawing/Documentation KnowledgeBasic knowledge of typical drafting conventions for technical drawings: sheet setup, typical drawing views, dimensioning, notes and best practices.Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawing sets, design drawings and miscellaneous design development and/or engineering intent sketches.Drawing Standards and Attention to Detail:Ensure adherence to department Standards of Practice (self)Ensure technical designs follow standard manufacturing and installation guidelines in processes and material usage.Conduct thorough self-review and peer-review of design work to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to project scope and specifications.Responsible for utilizing Gable CAD templates and utilizing the Gable AutoCAD block libraryDevelop block components per the direction of Technical Design leadership.Technical Collaboration & TrainingCollaborate with others on the team to gain/extend design knowledgeStay informed about materials, fabrication methods and technologies relevant to visual communications design and custom fabrication.Possess good organizational skills including time management, planning, and consistently meeting deadlines.Ability to communicate effectively though verbal and written communicationsParticipate in professional development opportunitiesTechnical ProficiencyAutoCAD 2d (3d knowledge a plus)CorelDRAWMicrosoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, WordProficiency with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other web-based collaboration toolsAdobe Creative Cloud: Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, CADtoolsSketch-up or other 3D program experience a plusWorking knowledge of Solidworks, Inventor or other 3d CAD/CAM software a plus

TRAVEL

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
0-5+ years of industry experience?
BA/BS Degree in a design, technical or engineering related field or equivalent work experience.?
A portfolio that illustrates a range of detailed design drawings: technical, shop drawings, drawings intended for manufacturing, preferably with a focus in custom signage or visual communications
All prospective team members must pass a criminal background check and drug test. Candidates must also meet the requirements for an I-9, e-Verify.
SALARY
