Delta Dental of Arizona, the state’s #1 dental and vision insurance company, is looking for an innovative, strategic-thinking Director of Middle Market and Large Group Sales who can lead and inspire a sales team to achieve new levels of success.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Commercial Growth, the Director of Middle Market and Large Group Sales will play a pivotal role in strategic planning, team development, relationship management, and sales performance. The ideal candidate is a driven, results-oriented leader who can leverage strong communication, consultative sales and growth planning skills.

Essential Functions

Growth Planning and Execution:

Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies, in alignment with corporate strategic initiatives, to achieve company goals and objectives.

Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay ahead of industry trends and adjust strategies accordingly.

Understand and promote whole person care, population health, social determinants of health, member engagement, total cost of care impact, and wellness to brokers and prospects.

Promote the strategic and product value propositions with brokers and other external stakeholders.

Team Leadership and Development:

Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing sales team.

Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback and coaching.

Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.

Stakeholder Relationship Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, partners, and other external stakeholders.

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners, including Account Management, Sales Administration, Group Services, Marketing, Underwriting, Finance, Customer Service, Professional Relations, Clinical, Legal and Compliance, Human Resources and the Foundation.

Ensure exceptional external and internal customer service and satisfaction.

Sales Performance Management:

Forecast, monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, and adjust strategies as needed.

Prepare and present regular sales reports to senior management.

Manage sales budgets and resources efficiently.

Coordinate the ordering and maintenance of sales collateral and open enrollment supplies needed for the Middle Market and Large Group sales executives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in health benefits sales, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within the specialty benefits/insurance industry (i.e. dental, vision, life, disability, supplemental health).

Licensed for life and disability and health/accident.

Life and disability sales experience is required. Vision and dental sales experience is preferred.

Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective sales plans.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.

Proficient in Salesforce CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Starting pay for this position includes a base pay range of $150,000 - $230,000 in addition to a commission.
