Job Summary
Graphic designer for the monthly student magazine the Ke Alaka'i. Designs art and copy layouts for material to be presented by visual communications media such as books, magazines, newspapers, Internet websites, television, and packaging. Will be working on Abobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. This job includes multimedia training and projects done both individually and in teams.
**Applicants should have a portfolio and will be asked to complete a sample two-page layout and create an infographic as part of the hiring process.**
Primary ResponsibilitiesDetermine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy and select style and size of type.
Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design.
Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts, based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.
Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Web sites.
Use computer software to generate new images.
Attends three planning and training meetings a week.
Works with design team and other Ke Alaka'i employees to design pages, graphics and infographics for the magazine as well as the Ke Alaka'i website and social media.
Performs other duties as assigned.
