The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking to hire a collaborative and dynamic program director to lead a county-wide intimate partner and sexual violence recovery-oriented, trauma-informed human services program. This position will provide leadership and oversight to Project PEACE (Partnering to End Abuse in the Community for Everyone), Arlington’s Coordinated Community Response (CCR), and Partner/SHIFT (Shaping Healthy Interactions for Tomorrow) Arlington County’s Certified Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP). The Project PEACE Director is part of the Director’s Office of the Department of Human Services and reports to the Assistant Director of the Department of Human Services.

Specific duties include:

Planning and coordinating Arlington’s Coordinated Community Response (CCR) to address interpersonal violence through community-wide activities and initiatives to fulfill the mission to end intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual assaults (SA) in Arlington County.

Overseeing and implementing the Project PEACE Blueprint and Annual Reports, facilitating two major task force meetings, and providing oversight for several smaller work groups;

Overseeing Partner/SHIFT, a clinical behavior modification program designed to meet the needs of those causing harm to their intimate partners, including supervising a program coordinator;

Collaborating with public-school administrators in Arlington to educate and address the issues and concerns around IPV and SA;

Leading efforts to implement process improvements across the county related to IPV and SA, including seeking alternative funding sources.

Collaborating with community partners and other government officials;

Providing subject matter expertise on IPV/SV, intervention services, and system coordination to DHS staff, project partners, and the general community;

Planning, coordinating, and facilitating meetings between citizens, community partners, professionals, and County-wide staff regarding IPV and/or SA;

Supervising staff to implement county-wide prevention initiatives; and

Providing contract administration for county funds directed to support victim services for those impacted by IPV/SA.

The ideal candidate will have experience in seeking out appropriate grants and grant writing, direct experience with adults impacted by interpersonal violence, as well as experience working with system collaboration around VAWA, VA State, and DoE regulations.

Minimum:

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Public Health, a Human Services discipline such as Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Art Therapy, Nursing, or a related discipline; and

Considerable experience providing advocacy, clinical, and/or administrative services to domestic violence and sexual assault victim agencies.

Substitution:

Directly-related experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Desirables:

Preference may be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in a related field and experience in one or more of the following:

Experience managing programs that provide services to individuals impacted by domestic/intimate partner violence and sexual assault;

Grant writing or contract management;

Working with criminal justice partners, Victim Witness agencies, non-profit partners; educators, and other government officials;

Clinical license (LPC, LCSW, LCP, LMFT) in Virginia; and/or

Leading large, macro-systemic projects.

Special Requirements:

Applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid motor vehicle operator's license from the applicant's place of residence. The applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or the applicant must provide a copy of the applicant's official state/district driving record. An offer of employment will be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record.

Additional Information:

Work hours

: 9:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some flexibility. There are occasional evening and weekend events.
