Purpose:

As Major Gifts/Special Events Manager, you will design, develop, and implement the Youth Emerging Stronger (YES) major gift program. You’ll be responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing donors, as well as identifying new prospects. An ability to develop, implement, and manage special events, including donor and sponsor management, is essential. You will work closely with the President/CEO to develop events and donor solicitations, acting in accordance with the YES Mission Statement, Value Statement, Code of Conduct, and YES’ Policies and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Development and Planning:

Collaborate in shaping the agency's development strategy and planning.

Implement activities aligned with the strategy, including fostering donor, corporate, and event sponsors.

Lead efforts for major gift campaigns and special events.

Major Gifts Role:

Serve as the key major gifts contact for Youth Emerging Stronger.

Manage an extensive portfolio of major donors, focusing on individual giving.

Maintain a high-frequency schedule of personal contacts and engagement activities with current and prospective major donors.

Event Management:

Design and oversee agency special events, including major annual fundraising events and donor receptions.

Lead sponsorship acquisition and provide logistical support.

Develop and execute plans for additional special events.

Revenue and Fundraising Targets:

Meet annual revenue goals and quarterly benchmarks, including specific targets for donor contacts, personal visits with major donors, and fundraising outcomes.

Regularly assess progress towards these goals and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure success.

Mission Promotion and Communication:

Champion the agency’s mission and program objectives in all development and fundraising activities.

Provide ongoing communication and support to the Development Department on all matters related to development and fundraising.

Strategic Assessment and Adjustment:

Quarterly, evaluate the overall development strategy and make recommendations for adjustments to achieve agency goals.

Additional Duties:

Undertake other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor to support the agency's goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

3+ years direct fundraising or business development experience at a Management or Director level.

Demonstrated success in procuring individual and major gifts.

Substantial experience designing and implementing comprehensive fundraising plans for all funding streams including major gifts, corporate, and foundation giving, with a track record of significantly growing revenues over time.

Demonstrated success in networking to build creative and mutually beneficial partnerships within the nonprofit, public, and corporate sectors.

Significant organizational and management skills including team building, staff supervision, and development; ability to manage colleagues, senior management, and Board members to achieve fundraising goals.

Knowledge of fundraising information sources, research techniques, data management, and evaluation.

Ability to plan and think strategically while also executing on a tactical level.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences.

Strong organizational skills, with outstanding attention to detail.

Satisfactorily fulfill the requirements for employment at Youth Emerging Stronger (e.g., references, physical examination, criminal records clearance, etc.).

Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

Must be able to lift and carry or move 25 pounds occasionally.

Must be able to stand for extended periods.

Certificates/Licenses:

Valid CA Driver License (must pass insurance underwrites).

Pay:

$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
