Position Purpose:

The Director of Donor Relations is the lead team member for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual and corporate donors at Family Tree, including the management of giving societies, to secure financial support for the organization. This position will also help the Chief Development Officer oversee Family Tree marketing efforts.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities :

Ensure individual and corporate donor revenue goals are met on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Help current donors accomplish their philanthropic goals through developing relationships with Family Tree, its mission and/or programs and ongoing donor qualification, cultivation, stewardship and direct solicitations for financial support.

Build and manage a broad portfolio of individual and corporate donors from various levels, with focus on mid- to high-level donors.

Manage and steward giving societies, along with the Chief Development Officer, including the Giving Tree (major donors), Treehouse (monthly) and Evergreen Circle (planned giving).

Create and manage individual donor cultivation events throughout the year.

Facilitate and encourage Corporate Social Responsibility relationship for corporations and businesses.

Track activity and information in donor database.

Conduct donor prospect research and management.

Develop and maintain working knowledge of all Family Tree, Inc. programs and services in order to engage donors in Family Trees work.

Work closely with the Chief Development Officer to strategically plan and manage Family Tree marketing and events efforts, and production and execution of materials, including but not limited to collateral, programs, signage, promotional materials, donor appeals, direct mail, advertising and social media.

Supervise the Donor Database Specialist position.

Support Chief Development Officer, CEO, and Board members in donor solicitation.

Collaborate with the Gifts and Community Support Department and other Family Tree team members as needed and appropriate to set goals and align efforts, especially in the areas of supporting fundraising events and cultivating philanthropic relationships with volunteers.

Present Family Tree programs and services in the community through public speaking engagements.

Work in collaboration with all GCS and Family Tree staff, board and volunteers on Holidays of Hope and Celebration of Achievement event.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Director of Donor Relations supervises the Donor Database Specialist.

Oversee activities of Donor Database Specialist related to individual and corporate (including in-kind) donation information and tracking, gift acknowledgement, and creation of lists for marketing and appeals.

Hold 1:1 meetings on a consistent basis.

Perform supervisory administrative tasks, including time sheets and reimbursement approvals

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent interpersonal communication, writing and public speaking skills.

Ability to initiate tasks and projects; organize and set priorities; and coordinate multiple tasks with multiple priorities, many of which are time sensitive.

Ability to work independently.

Experience and knowledge of effective processes for donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Experience and knowledge of social media and marketing.

Experience and/or exposure to nonprofit fund/revenue development activities, including special events, strongly preferred.

Employee supervising experience.

Knowledge of Family Trees primary service areas.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Familiarity with Blackbaud Raisers Edge.

Education or Formal Training:

Undergraduate degree or comparable experience is preferred.
