Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to help execute marketing strategy campaigns for the New Mexico State Parks Division (Parks) using various resources to promote the Division's mission. It assists with designing, , budgeting, coordinating, and executing print, digital and video advertising, organizing and promoting events, managing social media, maintaining the website, tracking analytics and trends, designing park-specific brochures, flyers, digital and print materials, promotional merchandise, and other marketing collateral.

How does it get done?

The Assistant Marketing Manager supports the daily marketing needs of 35 state parks and the Division's executive office, including but not limited to print and graphic design projects, social media and website management, copy writing, brochure development, email campaigns, reporting analytics and insights, video capture and editing, logo design, budgeting for advertising and marketing materials, and coordination and support of special events and expos. This role must be familiar with marketing principles/strategy, and must be able to work independently, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines all while producing high quality work. The incumbent will conceptualize, design, produce, and review photos, video recordings, and graphic design layout for print, digital, and promotional materials using Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and various video applications to market 35 NM State Parks. Responsible for Division social media management and upkeep to include website support and copywriting. Assist marketing manager with budget and coordination with partners and advertisers.

This job supports the NM State Parks Division, employees, industry partners, concessionaires, local businesses surrounding parks, and citizens and visitors of the State of New Mexico (i.e. media and general public).

Ideal Candidate

1) Bachelor¿s Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communication Arts and/or Media Arts and five (5) years experience in Design, Print or Web media, Editing, Advertising, Desktop Publishing and/or Typography.2)The ideal candidate will have strong graphic design and visual skills, including but not limited to creating impactful imagery to attract visitors, develop a broad range of digital, print, and video assets using multiple graphics driven programs (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Publisher, etc.).3) Experience developing digital media strategies and messaging using data analytics to inform adaptive strategies.4) Possess knowledge of managing social media, using digital trends and multiple digital platforms to maintain a consistent brand identity.5) Be a compelling storyteller with excellent written and oral communication skills who can help foster emotional connections and community.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communication Arts and/or Media Arts and two (2) years of experience in Design, Print or Web media, Editing, Advertising, Desktop Publishing and/or Typography. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

- State of New Mexico Driver's License- Defensive Driving Certification within six month from the date of hire

Working Conditions

Work will be performed in an office setting as well as outdoors. Weekend and varied hours will occasionally be required for this position. Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and operate computer and photography equipment. May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Travel will be required in-state and occasionally out-of-state (i.e., conferences and training).
