Every part and every voice matters.JOB DESCRIPTION:The Tactical Buyer is essential in planning and scheduling materials to meet the company's quality, cost, delivery, and inventory objectives while ensuring a smooth flow of production components, tools, and supplies. This role involves executing purchasing strategies, managing day-to-day procurement tasks, and purchasing orders to maintain operational efficiency. The Tactical Buyer is responsible for developing and managing supplier relationships, negotiating terms, and aggressively managing costs to enhance company profitability. Additionally, the role requires effective risk management, addressing procurement-related issues, and analyzing data to support decision-making and continuous improvement. Strong negotiation skills, proficiency in procurement software, and the ability to analyze and manage procurement processes are crucial for success in this position.JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Uses SAP system to review recommendations for material procurement and releases purchase orders accordingly.Maintains excellent communications between all designated suppliers and internal customers on open order status.Processes requisitions, miscellaneous purchase orders, sample parts orders, and reorder reports to support procuring required tools, supplies, and non-production items.Continually review MRP planning documents and item master data to perform or recommend necessary changes.Works closely with suppliers, communicates drawing and other part-specific changes, adjusts shipping schedules, monitors freight charges, and communicates desired inbound and outbound (for returns) freight carriers.Prepares requests for quotes (RFQ) and reviews product specifications, performance terms, packaging requirements, and/or acceptance criteria for new products.Performs data entry functions / prepares correspondence and performs other miscellaneous office functions as assigned or required.Actively participates in WHI's continuous improvement processes and supports corporate policies and practices, particularly in quality and ethical business practices.Perform other duties as assigned by the departmental supervisor in line with general purchasing and materials area responsibilities.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:SAPExceptional oral and written communication skillsArticulate and PersuasiveComputer skills, including Excel and Word, are required. Knowledge of MANMAN manufacturing software and Access is recommended.Effective NegotiatorInitiative-taker who establishes goals, sets priorities and accomplishes objectives on time.Excellent data entry skillsCultivates a sense of urgency.Working knowledge of Master Planning, MRP/CRP, JIT, and Production Activity Control concepts.PREFERRED SKILLS:Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing methods, planning, and layout of production facilities, equipment, workflow, cost control, and cost reduction techniques.Thorough knowledge of manufacturing to analyze, evaluate, and determine solutions to various problems that may affect the assigned area.Technical writing ability.
