The successful candidate will demonstrate sound industry knowledge, superior communications, and detail-oriented organizational skills. The Manager, High Voltage is responsible for managing project interconnection and the technical requirements during the project execution phase: engineering, procurement, and construction of the High Voltage (Substation & Gen-tie) facilities for Avantus’s pipeline of solar and energy storage. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Interconnection & HV Project Management.As part of the EPC department, the Manager, High Voltage will also coordinate the high voltage design requirements with multiple cross-function teams within Avantus, including the Transmission & Interconnection, Engineering, Development, EPC, and Operations. The Manager, High Voltage will be responsible for developing and maintaining Avantus’s contractual high voltage engineering standards and processes, directly interfacing with Avantus’s EPC and high voltage supply partners to review and approve subcontractors' high voltage project deliverables from early-stage design through commissioning.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and acting as a contact point for utility and ISOs.Attend and lead utility coordination meetings and ISO/RTO/ERCOT project-specific and stakeholder meetings.Direct coordination with interconnection providers regarding substation and gen-tie design review, schedule, and critical design interfaces.Manage overall grid operator (CAISO/ERCOT) coordination and submittal process.Review Interconnection Agreements and PPAs for technical requirements.Optimize, specify, and validate generating facility’s AC grid interface and functionality consistent with certain interconnection requirements in coordination with the Transmission & Interconnection team.Develop scope of work documents for projects based on Avantus’s engineering standards and following utility requirements.Support cost and lead times for all major MV and HV equipment procured directly by Avantus or Avantus’s EPC vendors.Manage overall project Telecom implementation.Manage internal and/or outside consultants in performing substation and Gen-tie engineering, power system and protection analyses, and effectively communicate the results to the appropriate project stakeholders.Review High Voltage EPC bid designs for compliance with interconnection agreement requirements, applicable reliability standards, following scope documents, and meeting Avantus standards.Support Pre-construction with managing technical contract requirements and standards of the generating facility’s high voltage and medium voltage interconnection facilities included in Avantus’s EPC contract templates.Support Construction Management during project commissioning to provide detailed power system issue root cause analysis and resolution.
