Conducts independent examinations of credits and portfolios to ensure risk rating accuracy and asset quality of the credit portfolio. As a critical component of risk management at BMO, this work provides vital assurance to the Board of Directors and senior management as to the quality of the internal control system and in so doing helps reduce the risk of loss and reputational damage to the Company.

Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy.

Leads and directs risk rating accuracy assessments in selected High Risk Loan Meetings.

Advises and counsels senior leaders concerning credit policies and credit management practices.

Manages resources and leads execution of strategic initiatives.

Collaborates with senior leaders to determine action plans for resolving material issues noted in review.

Acts as the prime contact for internal/external stakeholder relationships.

Coordinates the management of databases; ensures alignment and integration of data.

Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues.

Oversees the review process to ensure transparency and consistency.

Develops communications strategies and ensures consistency of messaging.

Leads change management programs of varying scope and type.

Acts as subject matter expert in US Acquisition Due Diligence processes.

Motivates continued high performance by enhancing and executing the People Strategy.

Recommends modifications to division training based on evolving needs.

Reviews and rates credit risks to assure timeliness and accuracy of credit risk ratings.

Participates in ongoing portfolio reviews and special reviews of specific credits.

Provides training and support to internal stakeholders on risk rating accuracy.

Completes investigations, assigned tasks, reports, and contributes to overall review assessments.

Aggregates Credit Risk Review intelligence and identifies issues.

Works collaboratively with internal stakeholders to maximize risk return.

Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a senior specialist resource across BMO.

Communicates abstract concepts in simple terms.

Anticipates trends and responds by implementing appropriate changes.

Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

Typically 20+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional designations: CPA, MBA, CFA.

Credit qualification required according to established standards.

Superior knowledge of effective credit administrations, commercial lending processes, and analytical practices.

Essential to have ability to identify early warning signals and required practices for management of problem accounts.

Extensive knowledge of Corporate Policies/Standards and general banking practices.

Superior credit analytics and risk evaluation skills.

Strong finance and accounting practice skills.

Expertise in influence, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Able to manage ambiguity and make data-driven decisions.

Salary:

$128,000.00 - $238,000.00
