Job Summary•Support Graduating Students in Planning Their Next Steps:o Work with seniors and graduating students to help them develop a clear post-graduation plan, whether that includes attending college, starting a career, pursuing vocational training, or other personal goals.o Provide personalized counseling on college application processes, financial aid (including FAFSA, scholarships, and grants), and entrance exams (SAT, ACT, etc.).o Guide students through the career exploration process, identifying potential careers that align with their skills and interests.o Assist students in building resumes, preparing for job interviews, and navigating job application processes.o Organize one-on-one and group meetings to help students develop actionable steps to reach their goals, offering support throughout the transition process.o Maintain relationships with local businesses, colleges, trade schools, and organizations to help students access internships, apprenticeships, or job opportunities.
Monthly Community Presentations on College and Career Topics:•Presentation Topics:o College Preparation: How to research and apply to colleges, including understanding different types of institutions (community college, university, trade schools).o Financial Aid: Guidance on how to apply for financial aid and scholarships, budgeting for college, and managing student loans.o Career Exploration: Helping students understand career options, internships, apprenticeships, and local employment opportunities.o Job Application and Interview Skills: Workshops on resume writing, interview preparation, networking, and building a professional online presence (e.g., LinkedIn).o Vocational and Trade Programs: Educating students and families on the benefits and opportunities within vocational schools, technical training, and other career certifications.
