6-9 Month Contract - Mid Level Network Engineer

Summary: This role would be a new add on the Network team. This junior/mid-level position supports branch network operations (support) and be a lead on our 2024-2025 WAN implementation project. This entails the turn-up, testing and router/SD WAN configuration updates for ~184 Baird offices. This position however, will not involve travel; rather the candidate would work with select carriers and fellow network associates to accomplish the project aims.

Schedule: Must be able to work both first and second shifts. 40 hour week will be standard, but hours may vary based on configurations. This resource will be dedicated to a specific project working with a full-time Associate to implement a new Wide Area Network (WAN).

Location: Milwaukee or Madison (hybrid, 2 days in the office)

Position Responsibilities:

Configure network gear (routers) in ~184 offices.

Work is all remote; does not require onsite visits

Will require on average 2/evenings per week (2nd shift) and the other 3 days daytime/1st shift; full time schedule for the duration.

Will function ostensibly as a staff augmentation, but only for this project.

Looking for someone experienced in configuring Cisco switches (ISR 4Ks, C8300s). SD WAN experience a big plus.

Candidate Profile:

CCNA certificate preferred

Cisco Experience preferred

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Business Administration. A minimum of three years’ experience in a technical role with experience in Cisco routers and switches.

Demonstrated working knowledge at, or close to a CCNA level for Cisco routers, switches, wireless LAN equipment.

Understands packet capture analysis and decoding (Wireshark, Network Observer).

Creative troubleshooter with the ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment.

Strong communication and collaborator with teammates, clients and vendors.

Knowledge of the business impact of the technology you support, you will need to determine priority and feel comfortable educating others and making technical decisions.

Ability to communicate and work effectively in a team environment.

Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Needs to be a mid level engineers with lots of Router experience. Also switch, understanding layer 3, and SD LAN, and CISCO. Can be remote and couple nights a week. 185-190 locations. 6-9 month contract.
