WHO WE ARE

The Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation is a civilian agency managed by professionals in the correctional field. To protect the public and citizens of Montgomery County by providing a wide range of constructive, professional correctional services for pretrial and convicted detainees. The Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (DOCR) is committed to providing equal and timely access to mental health treatment for all inmates in the Department. Services are provided by qualified DOCR mental health staff who have stood the rigorous expectations of accrediting bodies such as the American Correctional Association (ACA). In fact, the Montgomery County Correctional Facility (MCCF) earned the "Facility of the Year Award" recognition for its excellent health care and innovative programs as well as for achieving 100% compliance with health care standards in 2007.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation is seeking a licensed Therapist to work for the department's Medical and Behavioral Health Services Division with the incarcerated individual population.

Anticipated salary: $74,390 - $100,630What You'll Be Doing

The Mental Health Services section at MCCF is recognized for its excellent care and innovative programs that are offered to approximately 25% of the jail's population who suffers from serious and debilitating mental conditions.

Providing direct psychotherapyClinical Case ManagementCrisis InterventionGroup TherapyAssessment and Diagnostic Evaluation andTreatment for the inmates at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Boyds, MD.

This is a full-time position with a work schedule of Monday -Friday 10:30AM to 7:00PM.

Generally, this position is covered by Employees' Retirement System, Group JK. If the successful candidate is an internal employee, retirement plan coverage will be determined at the time the job offer is made.

The individual selected for this position will be considered an "Essential Employee." Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.

Prior to appointment, all applicants must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation, medical exam, and drug/alcohol screen. Prior to a promotional appointment within DOCR, the selected individual must answer the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) questions and submit to a criminal history to comply with the Prevention Planning on Hiring and Promotion Decisions (115.17, 115.117, 115.217, 115.317). This is a requirement to meet Federal law and audit standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Therapist I:

Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.Experience:

One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment, and maintained by, the employee:

Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW);Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC);Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC); orLicensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT)Note: There will be no substitutions for this requirement.

Possession and maintenance at all times of a: Valid Class C (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties.

Therapist II:

Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.Experience:

Two (2) years of professional experience rendering therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing or psychology services, as pertinent to one's professional licensing.

Equivalency:

One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment of, and maintained by, the employee:

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC);Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT);Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC);Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C);Licensed Registered Nurse in the United States, certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland; orLicensed PsychologistNote: There will be no substitutions for this requirement.Possession and maintenance of: A valid Class C (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties.Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences

There are no preferred criteria. All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be placed on the Eligible List and may be considered for interview.

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:

Experience providing crisis intervention.Experience conducting suicide assessments.Experience providing clinical therapeutic services.Experience treating clients with mental health and substance abuse disorders.Experience working with individuals with behavioral health needs.Bilingual candidates in English/Spanish are encouraged to apply.
