This position will be for the 2024/2025 School YearHOPE Community Academy is an accredited, public co-educational charter school comprised of primary,intermediate, middle school, and high school levels. The entire school community seeks to provide asafe and trusting learning environment where each student is valued and challenged to growacademically, socially, emotionally, and physically.The mission of HOPE Community Academy is to educate all students to the highest levels of academicand social standards with a focus on Hmong language and culture.As a vital part of the total learning community, HOPE Community Academy is called to educate studentsin an atmosphere enriched by shared Hmong and American values . . . peace, justice, and respect forone another. The school recognizes that a child's healthy development is dependent upon learning andliving out those values.

The School Social Worker will work with students dealing with stress from school, social pressures,and/or family life in order to provide them support and improve their classroom performance andoverall wellness.

Primary duties: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

Assess student functioning, both formally and informally, incorporating data from multiplesources across settings.Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop intervention strategies toenhance school success.Identify, mobilize and coordinate family, school and community resources to enable children toreceive maximum benefit from their educational program.Provide crisis intervention services for students.Provide consultation to school personnel regarding home, neighborhood and communityconditions affecting student well being.Serve as a resource to school staff regarding identification and reporting of child abuse andneglect.Serve as the school contact person for students who are homeless.Consult and collaborate with community agencies and other mental health professionals tocoordinate services.Attend and participate in individual, group and all social work staff supervision meetings as wellas District mandated training as assigned.Assist in resolving truancy concerns.When serving students in Special Education, engage in proper due process procedures.Uphold the ethical standards of the Social Work profession.Contribute to the District's inclusive workplace efforts by fostering a safe, welcoming andrespectful environment.Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (Master's Degree in Social Work strongly preferred), AND acurrent Minnesota Board of Social Work License AND a valid School Social Work License, issuedby the Minnesota Department of Education.Knowledge of positive behavioral interventions.Knowledge of group counseling techniques with children and/or youth.Knowledge of community resources and social services.Working Environment:

Duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment; school building is amulti-level building that has an elevator and is accessiblePosition requires extensive interaction with children of all agesDuties may occasionally be performed on field trips away from schoolDuties may occasionally be performed in outdoor environments, such as athletic fields orplaygroundsDuties may occasionally be performed in varying weather conditions, such as hot or coldweather.Possible exposure to loud and noisy locations (e.g. loud classrooms or cafeterias; childrenspeaking or laughing loudly).
