We are in search of a Cellular Core Network Solution Architect to join our team to support the current state and enable delivery against future requirements for our ever evolving smart, secure software solutions and platforms which maximize the ROI on IoT for businesses with complex, global cellular deployments. You’ll play an integral role impacting the technology vision and roadmap through architectural design, technology selection, and compliance. You will also shape/affect/influence interoperability, security, network performance, and transformation.

The Cellular Network Solution Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced cellular network solutions. This role involves working closely with partners, customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to create efficient and scalable network solutions that meet specific business and technical requirements. The architect will also be responsible for ensuring network performance, reliability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

Network Design and Architecture

Develop and design cellular network architectures, including 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and future technologies.

Assess customer needs and create tailored solutions to meet their business and technical requirements.

Ensure network designs align with industry standards and best practices.

Technical Leadership

Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams during the implementation and optimization phases.

Lead design reviews, technical discussions, and troubleshooting sessions.

Solution Development

Create detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams, specifications, and configuration guides.

Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to prove the proposed solutions.

Develop test plan to validate the proposed solutions.

Partner, Customer and Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with Sale, Product Management, partners and customers to understand their requirements and provide expert advice on network solutions.

Present technical solutions and recommendations to customers and stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.

Devise and deliver training programs and support documentation to other team members and groups

Performance, Monitoring and Optimization

Monitor network performance and capacity and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability.

Address and resolve complex network issues and ensure continuous improvement.

Provide input to ensure operational needs are taken into account and assist to define monitoring and troubleshooting requirements.

Innovation and Research

Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate new advancements into network solutions.

Research and evaluate new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance network capabilities.

Compliance and Security

Ensure that network designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and security protocols.

Implement and oversee network security measures to protect data and network integrity.

Requirements

Extensive experience in cellular network design and implementation.

Deep understanding of 3GPP GSM, GPRS, UMTS, HSPA, LTE and 5G core network circuit and packet standards, architecture and message flows

Strong knowledge of Core Network systems e.g. HLR, HSS, UDM, GGSN, PGW, UPF, SMF, PCRF, PCF, MME, MSC/VLR, SGSN, SGW, AAA, etc.

Experience with IP networking protocols (IPv4, IPv6, TCP, SCTP, LAN, VLAN, MPLS, BGP, etc.)

Hands-on experience with system and network configuration is a plus

Experience with detailed call flow analysis at message and parameter level

Experience in system capacity and performance analysis, optimization and planning

Understanding of network security principles and practices, and quality of service (QoS) management and network optimization techniques.

Experience with system planning, engineering and design in a highly-available & complex environment

Demonstrated technical and analytical skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage expectations and communication with stakeholders at all levels.

Ability to manage relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure delivery of services and equipment.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience is a plus.

Proven experience in a solution architect or similar role, with a track record of successful project delivery.

Relevant certifications such as Cisco’s CCNP/CCIE, Juniper Networks certification, CompTIA Network+, security certifications such as CISSP, specific telecom certifications like LTE/5G training from recognized institutions.
