The Team
Grid's Seattle-based money team manages Grid's core backend services. The team is responsible for building and operating high availability systems that move money quickly and safely. Platform engineering is vital to Grid's ongoing scalability and success.
The Role
With a focus on platform engineering and infrastructure, you'll lead our system stability and scalability! This work will include a number of exciting challenges, including database optimization, DevOps improvements, cloud infrastructure management. InfoSec program management and product development.
As a founding team member of our platform engineering function, you'll have an opportunity to design, own and operate Platform Engineering at Grid as we grow orders of magnitude.
What you'll do:Evaluate backend and architectural bottlenecksAnalyze system observability and service level objectivesImprove scalability to enable order of magnitude growthLead architectural initiatives related to databases and microservice decompositionIdentify and solve real-world performance issues at scalePrioritize Grid's Platform Engineering roadmap in order to unlock exponential growthBuild internal products to increase the productivity of the engineering team as a wholeEmploy Platform Engineering and DevOps practices that enable Grid to increase deployment velocity and qualityManage TechOps cost for Cloud Infrastructure and other vendorsAssist with compliance programs and partnerships as needed by business operationsLead developer experience enhancement initiativesArchitect and implement software reliability programsImprove observability and reduce MTTD/MTTR through proactive monitoring and engineering self-healing systemsYou're a great candidate if you:
Have 5+ years of professional software development experienceHave 3+ years of experience in consumer software technologyHave experience in high growth tech startup environmentsAre data-driven, fluent in SQL, datadog and basic analyticsAre mission-driven and excited to have a direct impact on millions of Americans' livesHave experience with production environment change management, devops and cloud infrastructure - we use GCPHave experience building workflows and maintaining CI/CD platforms such as Github Actions, Azure or JenkinsHave experience with backend software engineering - we use GoHave experience with BI/analytics tools - BigQuery, SQLHave experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Statsd, Prometheus, Grafana, Influx, Telegraf, Vector, etc
