Job Description

The Opportunity:Embry-Riddle is now hiring a Mental Health Counselor-Outreach Coordinator at the Daytona Beach campus. The overall purpose of this position is to promote student success and retention through the delivery of mental health services that enhance the emotional health and well-being of the student body, as well as the unique needs of aviation students and STEM students.This is a full time, 12-month position, working (August -July)Responsibilities include:Counseling:Provide counseling and psychotherapy to a diverse student population across a broad range of presenting issues, utilizing a brief therapy model.Assess students' mental health at intake and monitor their progress by utilizing the Counseling Center Assessment of Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS). Utilize other mental health inventories to assist in the assessment of specific disorders.Conduct crisis intervention during business hours and afterhours (as needed), risk assessment, and safety planning, and when necessary arrange for emergency psychiatric evaluation at Halifax Hospital through voluntary or involuntary means.Coordinate referrals to community mental health providers when students' needs exceed the scope of department services.Coordinate referrals to ERAU Health Services or community Psychiatrists for psychotropic medication evaluation.Provide consultation, guidance, and support to faculty, staff, families, and friends who are concerned about the well-being of students.Facilitate groups and workshopsMaintain confidentiality of client care.Administrative:Adhere to department operating policies and procedures in addition to clinical rules, regulations, and ethical practices.Contribute to the shared operations of the department by collaborating with department leadership and colleagues to assess, advance and implement improvements to services and programs.Maintain accurate and professional client documentation utilizing the department's electronic medical record keeping system. (e.g. Titanium)Retain clinical licensure and malpractice insurance.Support front desk operations as needed.Outreach:Provide innovative campus-wide mental health awareness and prevention programs, wellness education, and requested psycho-educational trainings for student leaders, faculty and staff.Collaborate with campus partners to develop and implement outreach and wellness programs on topics central to mental health education, awareness, and prevention.Participate in special events and programs, such as orientation, admission open houses, etc.Participate in Student Affairs meetings, team-building activities, and social events, as requested by the director.Participate on campus committees; contribute to campus initiatives and activities, as requested by the director.Attend campus memorial services to support grieving students, clubs and organizations.Professional Development:Engage in continuing education and professional development trainings on the changing mental health needs of the student body.Engage in continuing education requirements for state licensure.Maintain awareness of latest trends in mental health care of college students, best practices, and legal and ethical professional standards.About Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University:At Embry-Riddle, we take pride in our position as the world's largest and most comprehensive university dedicated to aviation and aerospace. Required Qualifications:Master's degree in mental health counseling or related fieldMust be licensed with a Florida State Professional License, i.e. LMHC, LCSW, LMFT.Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience in mental health counseling.Experience working with diverse populations.Experience in facilitating and coordinating psycho-educational workshops, training, and presentations.Experience in a university counseling center with a broad-based comprehensive student development perceptive.
