A Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining and managing the critical infrastructure of a data center. This role involves a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Server and Network Management:

Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and network equipment Monitor and optimize server and network performance. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues Infrastructure Maintenance:Conduct routine inspections of critical infrastructure systems (HVAC, Electrical, Fire Alarm) • Perform preventive maintenance on data center equipment• Manage power distribution and cooling systems Security and Compliance:

Implement and maintain data security policies and practices • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations Support and Troubleshooting:Provide on-site support during incidents, RMA, and maintenance activities • Respond to and resolve equipment malfunctions and outages• Offer remote hands support for clients when needed Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate equipment inventories and rack elevations • Document processes and keep detailed event logs• Create and update data center documentation

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, or CCNP are advantageous Experience:2-3 years of experience in a data center environment or similar role • Proven experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment Technical Skills:In-depth knowledge of server hardware, software, and networking protocols • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems• Understanding of layer 2 switch administration Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform work requiring extended walking and bending Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts Soft Skills:Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
