Role : Azure Lead DevOps Engineer

Location : Chicago IL - 3 Days in client office & 2 days remote

The Azure Lead DevOps Engineer will work within the global Azure Cloud Services team who are responsible for building highly resilient, scalable, reusable and performant Azure infrastructure in an automated and efficient manner.

The Azure Lead DevOps Engineer role is to develop technical capability to allow client to host applications on the Microsoft cloud platform and consume services in a secure, resilient, scalable and efficient way and that platform is fit for purpose and meets all of the appropriate client security and risk standards. The role will report to the Azure ASP Regional Lead and be accountable for a regionally team of DevOps engineers.

Responsibilities will include:Engineer solutions on Azure foundation platform using Infrastructure-as-Code methods (e.g. Terraform)Conduct code reviews, provide feedback and guidance to other team members, and ensure the quality and performance of the solutions is maintained for the whole teamBuild and manage the client Azure foundation platform to enable application deploymentsEnsure the Azure platform meets operational Risk framework to manage business riskEnsure all relevant architecture governance, policy, and standards are metOwn engineering operating model (Agile, Waterfall etc.) and tools (Jira, GSD, Confluence)Represent the Azure platform in discussions with internal IT partners and MicrosoftProvide Management reporting to ensure data driven discussions for continuous improvementExecute the functional pattern lifecycle process (design, document, develop and maintain) code libraryIntegrate, configure, deploy and manage centrally provided common cloud services (e.g. IAM, networking, monitoring, Operating systems, Containers.)Manage Azure connectivity and networking e.g. Express Route, DNS, IP allocation and traffic routing, NSG's and Azure FirewallEnsure compliance with centrally defined SecurityEnsure compliancy with Operational risk standards (E.g. Network, Firewall, OS, Logging, Monitoring, Availability, Resiliency)Update support and operational documentation as requiredSupport the Service Delivery Manager to implement a 24 x 7 follow the sun support modelDevelop solutions meeting client Business contingency standardsDevelop and promote the reuse of patternsBe an Azure Platform evangelist with customers, partners and external communitiesProvide Management reporting to ensure data driven discussions for continuous improvementGather requirements and provide continuous feedback loops between Cyber security and the wider Azure Cloud Services teamQualifications and experience

The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:

Have worked as an Engineering Lead in an enterprise organisationHave managed peopleDemonstrable knowledge of Non-Functional RequirementsHave experience managing stakeholdersDemonstrable Cloud service provider experience - infrastructure build and configurations of a variety of services including Compute, Containers, Container OS and Container orchestration (E.g. Docker, COS, GKE) Storage, IAM, SDN (VPC and XPN)Experience of building a range of Services in AzureExpert understanding of DevOps principles and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and techniquesSecurity and Compliance, e.g. IAM and cloud compliance/auditing/monitoring toolsCustomer/stakeholder focus. Ability to build strong relationships with Application teams, cross functional IT and global/local IT teamsGood leadership and teamwork skills - Works collaboratively in an agile environment with DevOps application 'pods' to provide Azure specific capability/skills required to deliver the serviceA track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement changeSet and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their fieldExcellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiencesEssential Skills

Experience working as an Engineering Lead or relevant equivalentPeople management (Objective setting, Performance review)Experience dealing with IT Audit, Security and RiskTechnical knowledge and breadth of Azure technology services (Identity, Networking, Compute, Storage, Web, Mobile, Containers, Databases, Analytics, AI & Machine learning)Have excellent written, verbal and presentation skillsDemonstrable risk management knowledgeKeen problem solving skills (Analytical and Creative)Experience working within an Agile team environmentAbility to quickly acquire new skillsGood command of EnglishDesirable Skills

Industry recognized cloud certificationsProgramming experience in the following languages: PowerShell, Terraform, Go, Bash, Windows command prompt and object orientated programming languagesTechnical knowledge (Directory Services, Microsoft Identity, Physical Networking, Firewalls, SDN, XPN, Billing, Operating Systems, Containers, Azure Resource Hierarchy)Experience operating in highly regulated industry, e.g. Financial Services
