:

The Yonkers Public Schools, an urban district of approximately 26,000 students in Westchester County, seeks a Director of Mental Health Programming to oversee and facilitate social-emotional learning (SEL) as related to mental health in Yonkers Public Schools. The position will support evidence-based interventions focused on creating support systems and programs for students. This position will monitor and report grant-related deliverables; monitor SEL and Mental Health interventions utilizing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model; address identifying variables associated with loss of social emotional and mental health skills and facilitate professional learning to promote positive experiences for students.

Position Summary:

The

Director of Mental Health Programming

will also possess a firm understanding of New York State Social Emotional Learning Benchmarks, proven communication skills, highly developed organizational skills, collaborative experience with colleagues, parents, and the community; and a proven track record of designing and conducting effective professional development activities. Working with Central Office and building-level professionals, the Director of Mental Health Programming will report directly to the Executive Director of Student Support Services. The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring student trends, creating and adhering to timelines, and coordinating district mental health supports and interventions. Additionally, the Director of Mental Health Programming will oversee mental health and social-emotional grants, and interface with families and community partners, as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Student Support Services, the selected candidate will:

Supports the organization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of Mental Health focused GrantsWorks closely with the District's Pupil Support Services division in the collection and analysis of data, as well as in using data to inform decision-makingServes as a coordinator of District anti-bullying campaigns; monitors district Dignity for all Students (DASA) processesAssists with the evaluation of Central Office based staffSupports Central Office and School-Based staff with ongoing case reviews and best practices in meetingsWorks closely with the District child/adolescent psychiatristSupports use of the range of mental health supports available to students and families utilizing a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworkConducts school visits and classroom observations, to support the implementation of district instructional and behavioral fociInterfaces with the District 504 processesProvides guidance on the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP) which are culturally relevant and responsive, with a focus on social-emotional developmentMonitors the provision of counseling servicesEngages policymakers in discussions involving the outcomes of programs that impact students' social-emotional and mental healthIntegrates and supports policy development as it relates to disproportionality and young men of colorSupports after-school and summer initiativesMeets regularly with the Regional Support TeamSupports district implementation of testing modifications and accommodationsConducts and participates in ongoing personal and professional developmentPerforms other such duties as assigned by the Associate Superintendent of Student Support ServicesQualifications:

New York State Certification as School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA)New York State Certification as Special Educator, School Psychologist, School Counselor, Social Worker or related discipline at the primary or secondary levelUnderstanding of NYS Social Emotional Learning Benchmarks, NYS Next Generation Learning Standards, and CRE FrameworkKnowledge of Systems Change, Project Management, and an ability to translate ideas into content and deliverablesKnowledge of comprehensive and innovative teaching approachesEnthusiastic, conscientious, thoughtful, and creative problem-solverExperience in and/or demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement, and facilitate professional development/workshopsStrong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written requiredSpanish speaking, preferredMust be able to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends
