Substance Abuse counselor/Recovery counselor - Staten Island, NY
Job Type: Full Time
Shifts: Tuesday - Saturday 10am -6pm
Responsibilities:
• Complete diagnostic assessments, evaluation, intervention, and referral for individuals who self-refer, and/ or are referred by H.O.P.E/ Relay Programs for level of care and treatment options available to them. Work within the framework of client center treatment and support.
• Collaborate on the development of an initial participant action plan, including a thorough review of substance use and mental health related issues.
• Complete biopsychosocial intakes, treatment planning, and discharge planning with continuity of care.
• Provide crisis intervention and support to program participants.
• Engage in providing syringe exchange and harm reduction and prevention techniques and education. Provide Naloxone training to participants.
• Maintain appropriate positive, professional relationships with staff, peers, participants, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• CASAC or college degree in Social Work or Counseling required.
• At least 1 year of experience providing counseling services to individuals experiencing substance abuse or mental health issues.
