Software Engineer 2
to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems. The ideal candidate will work with diverse systems, ranging from processing-intensive analytics and algorithm development to real-time systems and business management information systems. You will collaborate within a team or individually, providing critical input into system design, software development, and software integration. This role demands the ability to resolve software issues, perform thorough testing, and contribute to software trade-offs and reuse considerations.Key Responsibilities:Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specifications.Debug existing software to identify and correct defects, ensuring high software quality.Provide recommendations to improve documentation and software development process standards.Design and code new software, or modify existing software to add new features or improve performance.Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.Develop and execute test procedures for software components, ensuring they meet performance standards.Write and review software and system documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.Serve as a
team lead , managing one or more software development teams and ensuring projects are completed according to established constraints.Design or implement complex database interfaces and queries, adhering to system performance standards.Develop and implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance requirements.Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve overall performance.Use
scientific analysis
and
mathematical models
to design, develop, and modify software systems, predicting and measuring design outcomes.Perform
quality control
on team products, ensuring adherence to design and system resource constraints.Collaborate with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and assess performance capabilities.Coordinate software system installations and monitor equipment functionality to ensure operational standards are met.Required Skills & Experience:14+ years
of experience as a
Software Engineer (SWE)
in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.Experience developing software for
processing-intensive analytics ,
real-time systems , and
business management information systems .Expertise in developing and implementing
complex algorithms
requiring strict timing, resource, and interface constraints.Strong background in
system performance analysis
and developing software solutions to meet or exceed functional standards.Experience leading
software development teams
and ensuring alignment with software development processes.Ability to design and implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.Experience with
software system installation , monitoring, and performance testing.Education & Certifications:Bachelor's degree
in
Computer Science
or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required.Four (4) years
of additional SWE experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.Security Clearance:
This position requires an
active TS/SCI clearance
